Bottom 5th, a scoreless inning for the UConn offense. Game tied at 1. Tebrake has 8 strikeouts and he is at 72 pitches. Tebrake is the reigning Big East pitcher of the year.

Bottom 6th, a scoreless inning for the UConn offense. Bad luck for UConn that inning, as a potential wild pitch bounces off the home plate umpire, enabling the catcher to throw out Casey Dana trying to advance to 2B. Tough to blame Dana for bad base running on that one, as you just don't expect that bounce off the umpire.

Top 8th, Peterson starts the inning on the mound. O'Donnell and Sullivan warming in the pen. Peterson with a 1-2-3 inning. 9 strikeouts, 3 hits, and 1 walk. a very nice outing for him. Suspect we will see Willis in the 9th unless UConn gets some amenities.

Bottom 8th, a leadoff single by Stock followed by a double by Dana puts 2 runners in scoring position with no outs. Tebrake gets out of the jam, 3-1 UConn going to the top of the 9th.

Justin Willis in to pitch for UConn in the top of the 9th.

Clearly can see why Tebrake has the numbers he had heading into today (6-1, 2.76 ERA)

Surprised not bringing in O'Donnell to face the 2 lefties to start the 9th

Nice win. Now let’s take this series! It was really nice of Creighton fans to run their mouths so much last spring that it makes beating the Bluejays feel even better.

Big win in the battle of the aces. Maybe the two top pitchers in the BE going head to head. The more UConn piles up conference wins the more they keep cementing an at-large bid.

-> Game Notes
  • UConn is 12-0 in games started by Austin Peterson this season.
  • Justin Willis is tied for fifth in single-season history with 12 saves this season and passed Caleb Wurster for ninth all-time with 13 career saves.
  • Casey Dana extended his hit streak to 12 games with his 19th multi-hit game.
