It doesn’t start until next year but here’s what I would look like this year (current conference makeup, 6 champ/6 at large).

Using Massey composite until CFP rankings are published.

Following week 1
#1 Ga*, #3 Mich*, #7 FSU*, #8 USC* byes

#23 Tulane* @ #2 Alabama
#13 Texas* @ #4 Ohio St
#10 Wash @ #5 Tenn
# 9 Oregon @ #6 Penn St
 
I don't know how the Big 10 would get 3 teams in the CFP based on how badly it is playing in the non-conference games. How would Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State find quality wins?

The Pac 12 is pretty salty this season. USC, Washington and Oregon are going to have battles in league play.

TX jumps up to a bye & ND replaces Ore
G5 disaster: Tulane holds onto lead even as it plummets to 35th

You forgot to include Utah and Colorado. Utah plays well against USC.

Forgot to do Week 3 from last week

Ohio St jumped Mich for the autobid, while Wash jumps into a bye
Tenn & Bama fall out (leaving just 1 SEC!), replaced by Okla & Ore

For week 4, look for Ore to jump up a bunch and Utah to possibly break in, esp if ND loses

ND lost but certainly shouldn’t have lost any standing in a great game with the Buckeyes. Utah is winning without their starting QB they are very tough. PAC12 has some very good overall talent while on their way out.

A 16 team playoff likely means the death of the conference championship games, so I think it'll be awhile before they give those up. At least I hope so.

If the revenue is more for a 16 team playoff is more than the conference championship games then they will go away.
 
James Madison University's football team, undefeated and nationally ranked, cannot compete in postseason play thanks to an NCAA rule. Teams transitioning from FCS to FBS must wait two years before becoming eligible for bowls.

Expected changes this week:
-Arizona replaces OkSt as B12 AQ plus first round bye
-move to 5+7 model knocks out Tulane
-MS and Tulane replaced by Ore St and Mizzou
