I've been a UCONN bball fan my whole life, but just recently discovered the boneyard. After a summer of lurking I figured now would be a great time to jump in with one of those "10 questions about the upcoming season" posts...

1) Who has the better shot at being AAC POY, Boatright or Brimah?

2) Who wins the First Night 3-point contest?

3) What is the highest we get in the rankings during the regular season.

4) Do they continue the new tradition of huddling up behind KO during the on-court post game interviews?

5) Will Brimah lead the nation in BPG?

6) Other than SMU, which conference matchup poses the biggest threat?

7) Who does better in the Duke game, Brimah or Okafor?

8) After losing the top 2 rebounders, can they exceed last years mark of 35.4 per game?

9) After seeing the schedule, who hands UCONN their first loss of the season?

10) KO insinuated there is another captain spot open for anyone willing to earn it. Who's the most likely choice? Nolan?

What I love about the Yard is that even though I'm too lazy to answer 'homework' type questions, there are thoughtful, smart and patient posters who will post my answers for me.

1) Who has the better shot at being AAC POY, Boatright or Brimah?
Boat

2) Who wins the First Night 3-point contest?
Someone unexpected, who will not score much during the season. I'll say Omar.

3) What is the highest we get in the rankings during the regular season.
#13. We have a tough early season schedule, and few resume-building games late in the year. Like last season, we'll spend most of the year in the #20-25 range, on the periphery of national relevance.

4) Do they continue the new tradition of huddling up behind KO during the on-court post game interviews?
Nah, it'll get old after a little while.

5) Will Brimah lead the nation in BPG?
No.

6) Other than SMU, which conference matchup poses the biggest threat?
We seem to have Memphis's number, so I'll say Cincy.

7) Who does better in the Duke game, Brimah or Okafor?
Okafor -- the pure talent is undeniable.

8) After losing the top 2 rebounders, can they exceed last years mark of 35.4 per game?
Yes. We will get better rebounding from the 4/5.

9) After seeing the schedule, who hands UCONN their first loss of the season?
Texas. They're the first tough matchup, right after Thanksgiving.

10) KO insinuated there is another captain spot open for anyone willing to earn it. Who's the most likely choice? Nolan?
Omar. It's a way to keep him engaged.

10

After big wins, yes.

No. Top 3-5? Yes.

6) Other than SMU, which conference matchup poses the biggest threat?

Memphis

7) Who does better in the Duke game, Brimah or Okafor?

Okafor

I normally ignore posts like this., but I'm feeling frisky tonight! LOL

1) Who has the better shot at being AAC POY, Boatright or Brimah?
Boatright for ACC Player of the Year, if he leads the team, rather than trying to lead the team in scoring/shots.
Brimah is my favorite for Defensive Player of the Year.

2) Who wins the First Night 3-point contest?
K.M.L is probably the favorite, but I'm going for B.Stewart, if she participates.
For the men, I'd love to see how S.Cassell does. He's my X-factor this year. He seems like he lights up in events like this (or maybe his Dad did?)

3) What is the highest we get in the rankings during the regular season.
If we beat Puke, Top 5... but with Puke somehow only falling to #3.

4) Do they continue the new tradition of huddling up behind KO during the on-court post game interviews?
I hope not. P.Nolan & T.Sam looked stupid Photo Bombing when they had a combined 2 pts & 2 rbs.

5) Will Brimah lead the nation in BPG?
No, some guy from S.E.Central State always ends up leading the country in blocks.
Plus Brimah has Nolan behind him who will garner minutes at Center. Brimah could lead in blocks per 40 minutes though.

6) Other than SMU, which conference matchup poses the biggest threat?
I'm going with Newbie Tulsa, since they were a pretty solid squad last year. Most likely it will be SMU, but Tulsa played excellent in the 2nd half of last year's season & they return a nice core.

7) Who does better in the Duke game, Brimah or Okafor?
Difficult one. Okafor has dominated Top Bigs on the H.S. level for years. His weakness is against athletic long guys like Brimah. Brimah doesn't see a lot of skilled Bigs very often. If Brimah can stay out of foul trouble, it's Brimah, but Okafor is the type to get Brimah in foul trouble... I'm calling it a wash... If Brimah shines, look out College Basketball....

8) After losing the top 2 rebounders, can they exceed last years mark of 35.4 per game?
I'm saying yes, because Brimah & Nolan can't be much worse & have supposedly gotten much better (from what I've read, plus they've bulked up nicely). Facey had a nice rebounding rate, despite foul trouble last year. Lubin reaks of rebounds...

9) After seeing the schedule, who hands UCONN their first loss of the season?
Probably Puke... you know how the refs love them... ticky tack fouls against their opponent, while they can flop or maul the opponent. I've seen too many of their games to expect an evenly called game.

10) KO insinuated there is another captain spot open for anyone willing to earn it. Who's the most likely choice? Nolan?
Difficult decision. I'd be happy with just Boatright & Brimah. They both seem like leaders & voice their opinion.
If I had to take a 3rd, I'd take Omar, to build his confidence... not take Nolan, to light a fire under him.

I like the conservatism. That said, if Goodman had some of these replies, there would be a 3 page thread.

The entire conference is the biggest threat to a decent seed.

When's the last time we played someone that good at Gampel in November? (I have no idea but I would guess it's been a while.)

Been using this to help grab the dates for the games we're uploading. Don't think it's been updated since 11-12 season, but page 39 has the win/loss record at Gampel: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools...11-12/misc_non_event/historicalsupplement.pdf

Our non-conference record at Gampel is 70-4. Only losses coming from Detroit Mercy (3/18/2001), Florida State (2/6/1993), Jackson State (3/19/1993) and NC State (2/16/91).

Wow. Two of those were NIT games and the other two were from 1993.
