I think it will be up to our LBs to stay true to their assignment and not try to be a heroes.

The way to beat the triple option is to hit the QB hard on every play. Wear him out slow him down. When he starts worrying about survival, he will make bad decisions and that will make the option less successful.

Schiano likes to blitz the option and he has had a very, very good record against Army.

-10 smells like a sucker bet. Army has scored 16 pts total in last two games vs Air Force and Troy (for the math challenged, that's an average of 8 points per game). Their only FBS win was UL Monroe. They're ineligible for a bowl. They've got a sure win vs UMass coming and their Super Bowl vs Navy. No reason to bet Army, yet the money says otherwise. I wouldn't touch this.

Anyone know Burns' status for this? He lost a best friend in the UVA shooting. Would he plan on attending a funeral if it were on Saturday? I have to think Mora would let him if he asked.

It's only Tuesday and UConn is 9-2 ATS. As @uconnflyer88 says, the line has already decreased by a 1/2 point. Once the sharps' money come in, the line could retreat to -9 by kick off. I don't know how much action sportsbooks take on them, but my guess is they do well on UConn because the public doesn't give them any respect.

This game scares me. The defense has been good, but has also had a lot of plays this year where they overran the ball carrier. Over-pursuit versus staying disciplined and completing your assignment is deadly against an option/misdirection team.

Troy's defense gives up about 136 yards per game on the ground. Against Army they gave up 275 yards.

UConn's defense gives up about 160 yards a game on the ground and gave up 267 yards to Liberty.

Army gives up about 203 yards per game on the ground and only gave up 72 to Troy.

Somewhere in those numbers lies part of the reason we are getting roughly 10 points.

We have seen how effective mirroring can be, Edsall showed up. Disrupt the option, get in then backfield. Load the LOS scrimmage, blitz, make them throw the ball.

I don't bet on sports very much. I am more of a table game gambler and fantasy sports, but the state line is not much more than one hour in any direction. One could travel 500 ft into Rhode Island or Massachusetts and place a bet, no?

No, if you have a fanduel or draftking account that is based in Connecticut, when you log in they know exactly where you are. If you were to drive over the line they would not take your action. I'll take it a step further, I spend overnights at Mohegan on a monthly basis. If I try to log in on my laptop in my room to go on the sportsbook, they won't let me. They want me to go downstairs and place my bet. You can't bet any Connecticut sports pro, college. or mma in Connecticut. I have spoken to people at Mohegan who work for Fanduel and they would love to be able to get that action, especially on nights the Sun play

FanDuel and Draftkings evidently are not accepted in Rhode Island. It has to go through SportsBook RI, which is operated by the RI Lottery.

Bets on the local state teams are typically not allowed in any state (though Nevada just recently lifted this rule). This is not a Connecticut phenomenon and I cannot believe that neither sharps, nor savvy public gamblers haven't found a work around.

Be all that as it may, I never indicated that bets could be placed on Connecticut sports within the state of Connecticut. That wasn't remotely the point of the post.
