    Radon / Air in Home

We finalized negotiations last night. The sellers are crediting us back $4,000 to deal with the radon and other minor miscellaneous issues ourselves. We did well and will have money left over. We talked to 2 radon mitigators that told us the problem could be fixed. Thanks for all the help BY!

    Radon / Air in Home

Thanks all for the input. Yes there is a basement. Supposedly the levels dissipate by 75% each floor but the readings were only taken in the basement. Its a finished basement where we plan to spend time. Agreed, that's why we're overly concerned because obviously there is a history of it...

    Radon / Air in Home

We're under agreement on buying a new house. The Radon test came up at an average of 4.4 pCi/L which is above EPA levels of 4.0 pCi/L. Apparently the seller did not leave the windows closed during the test and the levels fluctuated between 0.5 and 15.7. We've asked for a re-test. There was a...

    Skiing/Snowboarding Winter 20-21???

All the Germans skiing in Northern Italy was one of the first major spreading events in Europe. Although I suspect the spread had more to do with the apres events. Like bendm said above, you're already wearing a mask, goggles and gloves. Maybe spread out in the lift lines, don't go in the...

UConn Highlights: Doug Wrenn - Freshman Season (1999-2000)

Man, that off the backboard from Khalid slam always stuck with me. Wrenn was always checking to make sure the structural integrity of the backboard support was sufficient.

    OT: Comet Neowise

My mother-in-law saw it in upstate Vermont the other day. Said she could see the tail and it was great. Used binoculars. I have a 1 yo waking up at 5 am, I'm about to pass out any minute now, so its hard for me to orchestrate a viewing.

    OT: Another Corona Drinking Question

That came back to bite me one time. For some reason one time I felt like being truthful and told a doctor I drink 3-4x a week. I used to always lie. A year later I tried to get disability insurance and got denied because it was in my medical records. I'll never tell a doctor the truth again.

    OT: Covid Adjustments

My baby just turned 1. My wife had a very difficult pregnancy and still has a lot of pain. The baby provides us unending entertainment at home. We weren't doing much outside the home before the pandemic and I work from home, so it was almost like life as usual. The downside being that my son...

If I could've bought shares of beer I'd be a gazillionaire right now. Instead I remain poor.

    OT: Stock trading

I might have been salty, as I did the "smart" thing of taking meager profits when I had bought stocks like Amazon at $1600 and Tesla at $350 in March expecting a dead cat bounce and not expecting the market to go straight up to 27,500. Long term holders were rejoicing. Now they're like, why...

    OT: Stock trading

Perhaps you've been under a rock the last 4 months. There was a major pandemic that sent the market into chaos. Since then you didn't have to outsmart the market, all you had to do was go with the market. When high sell, when low buy. Chuck Schwab has been lying to you.

Do we have the option to just swing trade shares? Pun intended. Options are too complicated for me. Like I prefer blackjack over craps. But I hear options are great under high volatility. Because you're more likely to hit your mark at some point.

Why hasn't it done anything in the last few hours? This is so boring, I might as well get back to my day job. J Pow keeping it flat now?

I Know This Much Is True

My brother is schizophrenic, and honestly I'm nervous to watch it. Feel like it will open some old wounds. I will though on days I'm mentally prepared to take a gut punch. I remember crying in the theaters watching Beautiful Mind. Always glad to see the issue getting exposure. Happy to see...

    OT: Stock trading

What I'm doing is buying and selling in portions of 25 shares. That way if it goes up, you sell some, if it goes down, you buy more. I also have a variety, so if one particular sector is outperforming another I focus on that one at the time. It works during high volatility. Yesterday was...

    OT: Stock trading

I'm selling a portion of what I picked up EOD yesterday for about a 15% profit. If the down trend continues, I'll re-enter with that dry powder. If we go back up, I still have 3/4's of my portfolio for the longer term.

Nice little bounce this morning. I'm going to sell off a portion at open as I don't think we're out of the woods yet.
