Watching Braylon Mullins' 3pt release, he reminded me of someone, where I had to look up some clips of that player and noticed the similarities. Take a look at the release by Derrick White, of the C's, on his 3 ball. Looks very similar, though Braylon more consistently releases his a tad...
I guess it depends what you mean by playing faster. I do think at times they need to look for early offense when the opportunity presents itself. I also think they need to execute their fast break a little bit better. I don't think they should try a bunch of any full court pressure unless...
One thing UConn needs to improve on, which I hope Hurley is working on in prep for this game, is breaking the press quickly, attacking the basket or taking some more in-flow wide open transition 3s making teams pay for trying to press us in the backcourt with 3 to 4 defenders. I'm not saying...
Thanks for the report on Newton. He's one of my favorite former UConn players, and couldn't be happier for him to someday find some minutes in the NBA.
Hum, it's always nice to be ranked #1 in the polls at some point in any given season. But it's tough enough just being UConn and atop the Big East where most conference teams are gunning for us and some see the matchup as their Super Bowl, never mind salivating at the chance to upset #1 and rush...
I loved Newton's game and ability to consistently make plays during winning time, but his lack of athleticism is problematic at the NBA level. I haven't followed him since he left UConn so I'm not sure what his chances are to find his way on an NBA roster and get a few minutes.
As for Demary...
Yes, my questing was at a minimum getting some minutes in the NBA, and not necessarily getting drafted or playing a major role at the next level.
Now I'm not saying that I'm sure all seven of those players I mentioned will make it to the NBA, but thought there's a possibility it could happen...
No chance? I'd like to see how they develop by the end of their senior season if they carve out a bigger role at some point. It's tough for them to develop at a faster rate when they're not getting the playing time due to playing behind Mullins and Ball.
Ross is one that seems to have a lot of...
I hope those two missed front ends of the one-on-one don't come back to hurt wisconsin. After hitting those two clutch free throws it's a two possession game. Still a lot of time left. Top teams often find a way to win though.
I wonder if this year's roster might might have the most UConn players that will find their way to the NBA. Reed doesn't fit the modern NBA big, but he might find his way on a roster. Reibe fits the modern game. Stewart and Ross have a lot of untapped ability that might find their way...
Funny that you mentioned about the competition UConn faced in that 2023 tourney. I happened to wear my 2023 National Championship shirt recently that lists the teams we beat and the respective scores. I had forgotten that they didn't face any high seeds throughout that tournament. Though they...
Wow! Didn't realize he had 15 assists. Now we know what Demary is capable of when he stays out of foul trouble, and in addition to setting up his teammates, aggressively looks for his own offense. Similar to Newton, though maybe a little more quickly, he's starting to figure it out.
