    Dwayne Wade Praises Paige

A couple of decades ago, the building I worked in had a big banner during October (national safety month), "America and Safety First."

    2025 WNBA Off-Season

Are any free agents going to sign before the collective bargaining agreement is signed? I agree that the Liberty have to start looking soon and narrow it to a few candidates, but I'd be shocked if the CBA is executed in 2025. If it's signed by New Year's, that gives the teams four months to...

Can Ice have a big season this year?

She'll be playing against Sarah, Jana, Serah, Ayanna, Gandy, in practice every day (possibly Blanca, Caroline, and Morgan some days). I'm hoping that playing against that level of talent, strength, and aggression becomes the mindset and muscle memory.

    2025 WNBA Off-Season

I'm sorry, but I can't get this song out of my head after seeing your GIF. Last week I listened to all of my Tom Waits CDs. ( Note that I don't condone burning things to the ground. 😉 )

Can Ice have a big season this year?

I said earlier today in the Sacred Heart thread: I am guilty of having said this before, but I think Ice is going to have a really good season. . . I was very excited when UConn signed Ice, and I still think the sky's the limit for her. I agree with you about her hands, but she does often tip...

Sacred Heart Practice Today Who's Going

Thanks Tony (and everyone else) for your comments about the practice. Much appreciated, and I'm glad to see you are keeping your positive attitude. 😁 I am guilty of having said this before, but I think Ice is going to have a really good season. Hoping that the injured players make full...

WNBA Semifinals - who you got?

(quoted from the other thread). Watching the game, then later looking at the box score, I was thinking that Sabally and Alanna Smith seem to have both fallen in love with shooting the three. Sabally is 7-28 (16-53 overall) in the playoffs and Smith 1-13 (5-19). Work on getting some...

A Question On Paige Keeps Rolling Around In My Head

Well, I think she passed Tayler Hill about a week after this aired. 🤣 Seeing those clips makes me bummed that Maya Nnaji didn’t stick with hoops.

A Question On Paige Keeps Rolling Around In My Head

At UConn Paige had teammates who were generally better than their opponents. That was not so at Dallas, so she had to do more.

WBNA Playoffs - here we go!

This just occurred to me seeing your post: Will they be able to protect their remaining player or two in the expansion draft? If so, they (and probably a few other teams) won't have anyone available for the new teams. If teams have to have players available, some might have to start building...

    Nika myth should be dumped

I agree with the several posts above that her energy was invaluable. But the multiplier effect goes beyond that. Geno once said to the effect, "Nika believes she can do anything, not only that, she makes everyone around her believe they can do anything." She gave her teammates energy...

OT: band you've never posted before

The guitar in sledog's post brought Danny Gatton to mind. He was a great guitarist, taken from us at the age of 49. He did a lot of country and rockabilly, but was equally adept at rock and jazz. He did a great guitar version of the Simpsons theme, but this is some club footage from a few...

OT: band you've never posted before

Well, I can’t post the Shaggs or Wild Man Fisher because I’d have to bust myself. The next best/worst could be Daniel Johnston, a SoCal guy who self-released a bunch of cassettes that drew a lot of attention from musicians and almost none from the public. I discovered him when Tom Waits...

    Watching the Huskies?

I actually ponied up for Peacock because it was the only way to see the Tour de France. The fact that it might be needed for UConn games played a role, too (the Tour was also only on Peacock last year and I didn’t bite).

EDD new manager of USA 3x3

It would be easy to say that Delle Donne was so naturally talented that she might not be that good at helping put together teams and all that. But she spent a lot of time on the sidelines observing and absorbing wisdom from Thibaut during her oft-interrupted career. I really hope she's...
