I am making my first trip to Connecticut in a few weeks and was wondering what I should look for as a UConn junkie. Are there an cant miss spots for a husky fan? I know I am seeing a Sun game (vs Maya Moore) but didn't want to miss anything while I am in town!

I would go to Geno's restaurant either at the casino or in Storrs. The casino one is more upscale and the one in Storrs is more casual.

Geno's in the casino is a small pub. The food is affordable pub fare and you can sample one of Geno's new wines. You could probably pay a visit to the co-op on campus and stock up on Husky gear - if it's open.

If you are in Storrs - obviously the sports complex and new construction, but I would suggest a drive around horse barn hill and maybe a walk up to the top. There isn't much of the old agricultural school left, but it is nice to see the little bits that remain (and that scare away the city recruits!) And the view from the top of the hill is nice New England countryside. And just walking around the campus is nice - not particularly distinguished but I think it has a nice feel.

Rereading the OP I noticed that it's your 1st trip. Lots of stuff in SE CT if you're going to be based around the Mohegan Sun. My suggestion, visit old Mystic, the Mystic Seaport, the Mystic Aquarium and maybe the Submarine Force Museum.

If you are traveling through New Haven en route , or decide to see Yale campus- must go to the original Pepe's Pizza onWooster St. There is one at Mohegan Sun- but the addl. locations can't quite get match the original in New Haven!!!! Mystic is great! Heck - Newport RI isn't much farther and is spectacular!!!! Also have a grilled or boiled or steamed Hummel's Hot Dog!!! A real pork and beef hot dog!!!!

go sit in GAMPEL... front row! view all the photos on the concourse and enjoy the banners up top.

my favorite part about watching the scrimmages (cause I've never been to a game at Gampel, well one Annie's senior night which told me to never ever go there again)

Some fun things in and around Hartford too - but if you like art and especially impressionists there are two truly unique venues in CT. One is on the coast near New London and not that far from the Mohegan Sun - The Florence Griswold House in Old Lyme - Florence was a patron of the American impressionist painters who travelled up the coast from NYC to escape the summer and settled around Greenwich and Old Lyme - she opened her house as a boarding house and often took paintings in lieu of cash - so the dining room paneling was replace or just painted by many of the leaders in the movement - some of the door panels as well. A really fabulous place to visit about 2 minutes off the highway.
The other is in Farmington, CT (just west of Hartford) and is the Hill-Stead Museum. It has an incredible collection of European Impressionists amassed by the original owner of the property from 1880 -1907 before anyone really knew about them - paintings by most of the greats and the original structure of the museum forbid they ever be loaned out, so they are always there including I believe 4 Monet haystacks. The building is the original home and the gardens and grounds are also lovely.

Highly recommend both to any of the rest of the boneyard community that haven't been as well. And just FYI seeing as the is a WOMEN'S basketball forum - both locations exist because of extraordinary pioneering women.

Fixed, but I am not sure improving my spelling is of the upmost importance for me to enjoy my trip to Connecticut!
It will be if you run into the Spelling Police! ;-)

Rochester New York. Thanks for all the advice guys!
Oh so you are coming across I90 and down into CT (I91). You'll go right by the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield. Might as well see it since you're there and a basketball fan. It's not the greatest HOF, but the building itself is pretty cool. And you can always say you have been there. (there's a Cold Stone and a Plan B Burger right there too....just saying)

Or...take (Lee Exit off Mass Pike)Route 20 to Route 8 South, thru the Berkshires, and cut across on Route 44 to Hartford...a fine sightseeing trip

Make sure you don't eat so much pizza in New Haven that you literally become husky!
