Amazing weekend. Continue to admire a team that continuously plays road games for first 4-5 weeks of season and plays as well as they do. Fielded well despite playing on natural surface and practicing on synthetic. Pitching contributions from several guys- well done Tommy Ellison. Rhino is back in his groove. On to next weekend

Bottom 9th, Abbadessa gives up a leadoff single, Garrett Coe coming in to pitch to face a string of lefty hitters.

Coe walks the first batter he faces, but then comes up with a scoreless inning leaving runners on the corners retiring the next 3 batters. 8-2 UConn, the Huskies get the sweep of the series!

I believe this is the first post game player interview that Chris Jones has done that has been posted on the UConn baseball twitter feed this season.

Chris Jones admits to nitpicking that UConn offense was not able to come up with the big blow to extend the lead. On to the a few of the comments from Coach Penders. Ellisen's performance changed the whole tenor of the game. Pitchers did a good job this weekend of being able pitch both inside and outside. UConn pitching allowed only 3 runs in the last 2 games to a very good FAU offense. Praise for Padilla's fielding at SS as well. Coach Penders noted that the UConn defense did not commit an error all weekend. You just don't see that happen in college baseball all that often (of course there was a passed ball in the Friday game).

Of the bench players who saw playing time today, Maddix Dalena had a good day in the D.H. spot getting 2 hits in 3 at bats, plus a walk. People have been talking about Daniels and his bat, but Dalena certainly looks like a solid offensive player as well. Have to say that I really liked what I saw of Dalena in the fall ball games and scrimmages that I went to. As I said before, there looks like there is a lot of talent that has been sitting on the UConn bench in the players new to the team this season, and Coach Penders has noted that in interviews as well.
