It’s remarkable how much better we are in the field than anyone we’re playing.

Top 9th, UConn loads the bases with 1 out.

Freeberger warming up in the bullpen.

Garbowski walks, bringing in a run, 10-3 UConn. That's it for this inning for the UConn offense.

As you would expect, Freeberger coming in to pitch the bottom of the 9th. Tammaro takes over at 3B. Freeberger's second mound appearance in a game for UConn.

Freeberger throwing 90-94 and looks smooth so far. There’s no real relief facing our pitching staff when we throw strikes.

Lots of depth and versatility on both sides of the ball on the position player side. D looks solid. Starting pitching is sorting out. Settling on 3 for BE play won’t be a problem. Only concerns involve the abominable number of walks and HBPs allowed so far. Especially from the pen. Freeberger is hopefully getting more high leverage looks. Caveat to our offensive output is the unbelievably poor pitching and D we’ve faced so far. I don’t know how college coaches stay sane. Love the athleticism, transfers showing out are the real deal.

SDSU, FAU, and OSU all had quality arms - they were let down by horrific defense (as you said) and some clutch 2 out rallies.

13-4 would look a lot better to pollsters than 12-5 but ish happens and hopefully Willis will learn from it.

Give Willis a break, everyone has a bad game at some point. It isn't like he is always blowing saves.

Maybe stuff-wise. But walks and HBPs were out of hand. 25+ by my count this weekend. Hawaii might have been worse. I think they will match last year’s firepower, but we’ll see how they grind on a day where the opposing pitcher’s command is there and his teammates pick the ball up.

Ha! Hawaii was worse - in one game!

Jones said they are on pace of their doubles and homers output of last year (record highs)
The cool thing about the home run total is that no one had more than 3 (if Jonesy’s numbers are accurate). The team has doubles and HR power up and down the lineup. We’re similar to the Oklahoma State team we played a few years back, strikeouts included!

Can’t wait to see this team play at home.

Coach Penders says that David Smith looks like he is back to looking like himself, leading off the last 2 games with big hits.

The UConn defense just doesn't go into vacation, unlike the offense and pitching at times. A few too many mistakes on the bases. And Sullivan put the cherry on top today with his performance, he gave up no walks.
