Hello all, I'm back from Indianapolis. Looks like there is a chance of rain in Cincinnati later today, so there is a chance that the time for the first game could change.

In the bottom of the 1st, Anthony Kay allows a lead off walk, and then immediately picks the runner off. No score after one inning.

Cinncinnati puts two runners on in the 2nd inning, but Kay ends the inning picking off another runner.

Solo homer off Kay for Cincinnati in the bottom of the 5th makes it 1-0.

UConn offense back to its old tricks. 10 runners left on base, no runs through their 7 innings.

CJ Dandeneau comes in to pitch the bottom of the 7th.

Unfortunately in the first two innings their left fielder made two great sliding catches and instead of maybe having five runs we had five left on base.

Coach Penders has used pinch runners(Krueger and Toppa) for both Gnesda and Melley during this game. Neither pinch runner scored, and now two of the bigger bats in the UConn lineup are out of the game. I've said it before, but I think pinch running is the ultimate short term and short sighted strategy. It just doesn't pay off enough to use it regularly. By the way, UConn infield is now Buckley at 1B, Yahn at 2B, Daniello at SS, and Toppa at 3B.

Not sure why Penders thinks he needs Routolo to go three. And this eleventh is a. Mess. Two infield hits. Make shift infield showing its ugly face. I agree too much pinch running.

Routolo does get out of a bases loaded no outs situation. Nice job

I don't mind Ruotolo going several innings. Besides, who would you put in at this point. Just don't keep him in there for 6.

PJ Poulin pinch runs for Susi.

Out at the plate by a good bit. Need clutch hits, not getting them.

Nepiarsky gets out of the 12th. I wonder how long Penders will go with him?

13th inning. How does Penders not send Toppa home after the ball is slowly rolling into the outfield. He seems to have a bad eye. They need a new 3rd base coach. Then you still have 1st and 3rd no outs. Danielle strikes out, Krueger a little tapper back to the pitcher and Lefevre strikes out. This is just plain awful baseball.
