Latest news as of 4:30pm today, my heart stopped at 3:30pm for a milisecond so the plan is to give me a pacemaker tomorrow so they can increase meds without shutting down my heart again! A heart specialist from Yale-New Haven Hospital is coming up to L&M Hospital to do the operation!
Never a dull moment!
Good luck tomorrow - hang in there! Hopefully you'll be in good shape to watch the game Wednesday night

Agreed. If you watch what happens after Butler comes in, the other team's bigs can't get into their preferred position. Agreed she often looks awkward with offensive rebounds and doesn't block shots as you would think a 6'5" would, but she changes the game when the opposition has tall 5's.

2 thoughts:

1. Last year's ugliest game (not the closest, but the ugliest), by far, was against TX in the Elite 8. They play an extremely physical style and it's like quicksand to UConn's finesse motion offense. So, rather than "grade" UConn on this game, maybe let's call it getting the necessary experience in playing that sort of ball and say that it was a required course on the pass/fail system: UConn passed. Even Geno seemed exceptionally relieved in the presser, suggesting that he appreciated that they had got through something they needed to get through.

2. Lou's flagrant foul is related to that. Clearly, she had already felt beat-up before throwing that elbow. Lou isn't a superfast learner (it takes a couple of times for her to "get" something), but she is an extremely good learner (once learned, it sticks). This is an early lesson for her for how she's going to be played the rest of her career, esp. in the pros. We all know that she's tough to the core, and she will learn soon enough to exact her revenge, not with elbows, but in the scoring column.
Lou sometimes runs around picks. Suggest she needs to learn how to make "best use" of Butler's body and make sure those that hammer her pay the price.

Mike, best wishes! Be careful watching UConn/ ND without a pacemaker. Would be interesting to see the ECG tracing. Maybe you should wait and watch the replay...

Maybe you shouldn't be reading the Boneyard either. At least for the time being.

Don't forget 'VIKES, if you're down by two at at the half, you have to buckle down, listen to the coaches, and dedicate yourself to success for the rest of the game.

Seriously, hope all goes well ...real well. Please keep us informed.

Natalie should get much more credit that she is receiving. For example KLS had an outstanding second half against Texas because Geno found something that worked and he milked it. Natalie was literally and figuratively a huge part of it. Geno ran the curl play for KLS off a Natalie screen 7 times in the second half. On three of those times the Texas player fouled KLS which helped UCONN to get to the foul line for 6 point at the end of 3rd quarter. When the defender did not foul KLS was 3 of 4 off that same play. On her three makes it was a Butler screen that gave KLS just enough time to get the shot off. A smaller person setting that screen and KLS is likely not getting those shots off as cleanly.

Nat played extremely well and does deserves a lot of credit. I think she was even a game changer at one point. I even thought the chemistry was there with the core 4 and her, they played very well. To be that complete player she needs to hang on to the ball and find the strength to put the ball back up on a rebound with out having to pass it back out. I feel like those 2 weaknesses stand out more times then not.
