What do you think of his commentaries?

A breath of fresh air, stale air, insightful, talks in circles, direct and to the point, misses the mark, amusing, or whatever else?

I will say he does have a unique personality.

I dont mind Stephan A. He seems like an ok dude. That said, ESPN is dead. Cable TV is dead. Sports commentary is lame. How many times does one need to ponder questions like, was the football deflated? Is Lebron better than Michael? By the way, he's not.

Do Lakers fans say Kobe was better than LeBron James anyway?

Complete waste of a human being. Every breath he takes is one that could have been for someone that deserves it.

Seeing him at UConn on 4/20 was electric. That being said, he's definitely shrunk in my eyes over the last year or so.

His job is to have controversial takes that get people listening, and he's good at it.

At having insightful, accurate, or in way valuable commentary on sports in general, he is terrible.
He is also well paid for it as it is reported he makes $8 million a year. I prefer the quieter, less controversial commentators but I am in the minority and not in their target demographic. I preferred shows like "The Sports Reporters" and Dick Schaap.

Smith is nothing special or unique. The role of vociferous sports pundit is a common and well established type. All networks have some version of Smith. If you listen to what he says, none of it is particularly insightful. He tends to take the players perspective on events. He tries to be controversial but mostly fails at that.

He's playing a character like all these guys are.
The internet and especially social media killed the need for Sportscenter.
I remember the days having to wait minutes or up to an hour to see a score on the scrolling bottom line or for a highlight.
