Interesting. All the pieces seem to fit assuming he interviews well. Middle Tennessee State to UConn would be the right sized jump. A lot may depend on who he can get as OL coach.

Too bad there isn't any connection between MTSU and UConn.

They scored 77 points in a game last year. That is enough of a fit for me lol

That's what Verducci's resume looked like. No thanks, not again.

Did it really? Seems to be missing experience in the key position he was hired for.

I still don't understand how he got hired. He literally never called plays. Diaco must have seen "run game coordinator" and his eyes lit up

Franklin's experienced as an OC is obviously>than Verducci (non existent t) but was agreeing with Sportsart about # of assignments.

I still wonder how good this team could have been by now if HCBD had hired an experienced playcaller in Jan. 2014. I find it hard to believe that we'd be 11-26 under an OC who knew what he was doing from day one.

Don't think we would be as bad but the team doesn't have a ton of talent. Add a horrendous head coach and incompetent offensive coordinator and, well, here we are.

I'm just amazed how convinced people are that we don't have any talent when coaching incompetence lost us two or three games and then the wheels fell off. We need more talent but these guys were good for 6 wins and if they'd gotten them in spite of the coach, they may have gained the confidence to get a couple more. I know they aren't great. However, to say they are so awful is to take the blame off the coaches who have done a terrible job by almost any measure one could think up.

I agree, but to play devils advocate, we were never going to win more than 6 games with that offensive line. It was really, really bad and we need to hope for a huge improvement there if we want to have any sort of success next year.

I count 11 years as an OC and multiple years as QB position coach. No NFL tho.

LaTech put up near 500 yds (400 thorugh air) against Navy tonight in 48-45 bowl win.

Easy. Just put them on a diet and put them through agility and plyometrics boot camp. Target should be 20 lbm weight loss per man. I refuse to believe that the prerequisite for proper OL technique is a PhD.

Question to the BY...

COULD BE JUST AS CRITICAL !!
DO they need to post the Offensive line coach position if there are changes being made and AND and The hire is from outside the existing staff.??

If there is a desire to move on the offensive line position coaches, we would probably see a posting right after an OC HIRE??

JUST AS CRITICAL AS AN OC HIRE.. Imho!!

Well, you would hope that the o-line situation will be addressed once the new staff is announced. Will they bring in a new O-line coach? Who knows. I still believe a couple heads are going to roll from this past seasons staff. Diaco is a proud guy that believes in his over all program building strategy and he seems bright enough to see when things aren't going well. Sure, he tries to sell everyone that the ship is fine and just needs to correct course but you know as well as anyone that he's fuming over the fact that this program isn't at level 300(or whatever that point system was he had) or better by now. And, I think even though he brought in trusted confidants to help him get the ball rolling he know realizes that specialists need to be hired to start the fine tuning. At least lets hope that's what is going on behind the scenes.

We need an OC with that same exact approach "Logan says he will adapt to the talent that he has rather than force a system on players who might not have the skills to master the sets." If you don't have the offensive line to do 5 step drops do quick 3 step drops. Lets do what 99% of college football is doing and go to the spread offense. Hurry the pace up and make the offense exciting. We don't need to mirror Oregon from 5 years ago but get close to it. Lets make football fun again. The Orlovsky years were awesome to watch.
He would bring instant offense, and he can easily be interim........

I get that the coaching profession is well established as a nomadic lifestyle, but this guy barely spent two years in the same place in over three decades. That tells a story, but which one? The aggressive assistant always climbing the career ladder or a guy who under performs everywhere he goes, so he has to get out of dodge before he's exposed. I don't know enough about Verducci to brand him one way or the other, but anyone who has had multiple stints as an OL Coach in The FBS and NFL should be able to oversee an offense with better OL Play than what we've seen the last two years.

Personally I would have been thrilled if Diaco moved Verducci to OL and Cummings to whatever non-coaching assignment Verducci now holds when that move was made.

1997–1999 Kentucky (RB)
2000 Kentucky (OC/WR)
2003 Lexington Horsemen
2006–2007 Troy (OC/QB)
2008 Auburn (OC/QB)
2009 Middle Tennessee State (OC/QB)
2010–2012 Louisiana Tech (OC/QB)
2013-2014 California Golden Bears (OC/QB)

Tony Franklin's passing scheme is one of my favorites. Supposedly he's tough to work with, though. At least according to Cal fans.

A lot of the best teams in CT use his system or have used it in the past

State Champs

Most CT teams use aspects of the TFS in their offensives but because it is so popular there are also many different ways to defeat it. thats why you cannot rely on it.
