Helllll yes. Assistant Head Coach. Thank God. It's the next best thing to firing Diaco

Edit: I think I read this wrong... Unfortunately just looks like a regular assistant

Well I think this puts to bed any Diaco firing speculation.

Hey, at least he realized he needed, and hired, someone with actual OC experience.

I don't think it speaks either way on Diaco's status. Since it's a state job there are posting requirements for open positions so that could explain it entirely.

Unfortunately I beg to differ on Daico's job status. In the past once a position is posted it's because the candidate has been identified and has accepted a job offer. This is just a formal application process due to UConn being a State Agency.

i can see Diaco rolling his eyes when Benedict said, "NO, 6 years of full time experience as an offensive football coach within past 10 years. I don't care if you have a guy that has spent 10 years as a coach 20 years ago. I want someone on this staff that can coach an offense that resembles something played this century"...

I agree, but technically the reason a position is posted is so people can actually apply (EEOC regulations).
In the real world, this posting is strictly for the EEOC regulations, and they likely have their candidate. Might throw in a couple other 'courtesy' interviews as well.

I'm guessing it didn't take Diaco 3 weeks to get this posted. It might have taken 3 weeks to find the right candidate(s). Do we know for certain this position is Diaco's hire?

Sadly you're right that that's a very real possibility.

I will use Erik Campbell's hiring last season as the example of why I posted what I did. Disco interviewed around for a WR coach..found his guy...then job was posted so it could be filled...with the guy he wanted.

This is complete speculation and maybe a little too pie in the sky, but....

Mark Helfrich kind of fits that posting. There hasn't been any buzz about him interviewing for head coaching jobs or even for high level OC jobs. He also deleted his twitter account within the past 24 hours.
