Blumenthal should sit down with a senator from a few key states in the next few days and tell her to deliver the following message to the respective BCS commissioners:

1) Either UConn is in the ACC in 3 months, or he will burn college football to the ground.
2) He will get whatever subcommittee chairmanship he need to continue hearings on the anti-competitive BCS.
3) He will badger Obama's anti-trust division to investigate the anti-competitive BCS. This means that criminal penalties attach if there is found to be anti-competitive behavior.
4) He will start an investigation into the tax status of the BCS.

And when some smartass reporter asks Blumenthal if he has something more important to do, Blumenthal can honestly answer "no". Murphy can help him.

There is no reason to play nice any more. There is no reason to "wait for next time", because this was next time and it didn't happen. This is time for extortion and blackmail by our state's most powerful elected officials. Give them 3 months, then burn the entire sport to the ground.

Blumenthal saved the Big East's BCS bid 9 years ago, it is time for him to save UConn today.

Yeah. Probably not.

The last thing we need now is more enemies. That play should have been made years ago or even last summer.

UConn was playing nice because that is what the ACC wanted. Didn't do us a bit of good.

I expect that every poster that doesn't like this idea will feel that way primarily because Blumenthal has a "D" next to his name. More party first, even on something like this. For what its worth, Orrin Hatch was a monster pain in the ass to the BCS prior to Utah's admission to the Pac 12, and it definitely got everyone's attention.

I already said we screwed up when we played nice. But timing is critical. Before yesterday it would have been smart. Now it just looks like a tantrum.

Dick needs to do two things at this juncture.

1) Sit the down.
2) Shut the up.

We lost. We may as well lose with some dignity.

You expect wrong. Mitch McConnell has been lobbying for Louisville since 'Cuse and Pitt left. It worked. Our school and our state grossly misread the situation years ago and continues to do so now. Threatening more legal action is not going to help.

It is a tantrum. Burn the sport to the ground. We have a lame duck President and two Senators for whom this is the most important thing that are in the majority party. This is the time Blumenthal will have the most influence on something like this.

Blumenthal has done enough damage to our flagship school. Keep him outta this. In fact, if all the ACC schools want to punch him in the face to feel better, lets forms line to the left and get it done.

Lose with dignity? WTF does that mean? This isn't a volleyball game, this is the entire university hanging in the balance. There is only winning and losing. Dignity has nothing to do with it.

You are right. Because McConnell and Hatch didn't have a huge influence in getting their schools a safe landing. Is it only OK when a Republican does it?

There are times when you need to just take it like a man. This is one of them. He screwed us once with a stupid lawsuit that did more perceptual damage to UConn than anything.

It's not who, but when. We had more capacity to influence before, because the outcome was more attainable.

At this point your idea is all about the afterthought.

Do you not see that you are the ONLY ONE bringing politics in to this discussion?

It has to do with the fact that he is hated by the school presidents who may decide our fate. And you are proposing that he take action to make that hatred 100x worse.

Sometimes I honestly wonder if you are trolling us.

When there was true war (see Vietnam) Blumenthal was nowhere to be found. He tried to napalm the ACC when BC left and we're still dealing with the cancerous fallout. Blumenthal needs to stay the out of this

Yes. The fight is over and we were posing for pictures instead of throwing punches.

You would rather watch UConn's athletic program drown than let a Democrat help it out. What is wrong with you?

You're an absolute dope. He can't help. He couldn't help then (actually helped to wound our reputation) and he can't help now. Are you really this stupid, really? Who the said anything about him being a democrat? Where the did you get that from my post?
