What shade do you expect?

We could adumbrate that

• she's no good
• her talent will be wasted
• she's giving up on the possibility of a NC
• she'll add to the "doing least with the most" quotient
• Duke can't really use her
• too bad she won't get good coaching
• too bad she'll see the underside of all those buses
  
• her decision is rather amazing

Probably, we could work all these themes into a coherent derogation if you want to see our best work.

No one wishing to say "nice get" need apply.

BTW I know Duke fans who could put our efforts in the shade.

A "chance to be very good" playing for JPM?

Just what kind of chance are we talking about here? The kind you need one of those nano microscopes to see? And the excellent defense may be what she does to defend any shreds of remaining ego after being constantly demeaned by her coach and having JPM calls her effort "pathetic" after a big game. But otherwise at least she'll get a great education at an elite university.

Odom is playing for her 3rd high school. She and Valerie Higgins played club ball together in the summer of 2014 and then Odom transferred from Mater Dei (HS #2) to Chaminade to play with Higgins. They were supposedly best buds, Chaminade had a good season and the two were going to play together in college. Sometime in June/July Higgins left the AAU team she and Odom played for and joined a new team. Higgins then committed to So Cal without Odom. I'm not sure if So Cal ever recruited Odom, I know UCLA passed. ND once expressed interest in Odom which was surprising to many at the time.

I'm sure some UCLA fans can provide some further info. Suffice it say, good luck to Duke.

JPM may not get her players to play to the best of their abilities but she has had good players.

Oh definitely. From the 2010 t0 2014 recruiting classes she got 10 Top-20 rated recruits according to HoopGurlz, with 4 rated in the Top-6. And those good players have piled up a lot of storied Duke seasons in the last five years, somehow heroically managing to battle through to three straight Elite 8 games form 2011-13 before bowing out in the 2nd and 3rd rounds the last two years. How JPM was able to lead teams with that level of recruits to such amazing results does seem incredible.
