"Animal House" is No. 36 on The American film Institute's (AFI) list of the 100 greatest comedies of all time but I don't believe any of the films preceding it have a college theme so there's some validation for your opinion, Reg.
I'll leave it to an enterprising tech savant to post the list.

In what universe are there 35 better comedies than "Animal House"?

The Big Chill is not a college movie. I'm not even sure Breaking Away qualifies.

There's gotta be a ton of horror movies set on college campuses. Not my genre, but I rather enjoyed this one. It's not really a slasher flick. It's not quite a spoof of one, but it has some comedic elements. Borrowing the Groundhog's Day time loop idea.

Obscure college sports movie (which I freely admit I like because it has Annette O'Toole in it) was "One on One." I doubt anyone would consider it a "best of" movie though.
