Williams was a poor punt returner, let way too many balls hit the ground and had lot of fair catches. No where near as good as he was as kick off returner.
Better than Lyle by a long shot.

Absurd. He may have been inconsistent on punts. He holds the UConn record for KO return average. But he was very dangerous. His punt return for a TD against Maryland was key to winning in College Park. To call him "a poor punt returner" is way, way too negative.

We have not had a legit return threat that opposing teams really needed to game plan for, in the kicking game, kicks or punts - since Nick Williams.
Special teams was not 'successful' in the same way as the rest of the tenure. Someone made a very good point in a few months ago that with all the coaching issues on offense there wasn't enough growth available and younger guys playing on special teams. A great runner still needs good blocking good lanes and good management of the game.

Williams was told (ordered) to fair catch and avoid many of those punts. The coaches produced many of those circumstances and bottled up a true talent--who despite it all was still able to show enough to be playing on Sunday.

So the Shenkman, a promotion and millions of dollars had no bearing.

You did notice that the 'interest' led to no actual offers right?

Believe what you want to believe but this one is ridiculous.
I've got an idea... Let's kill another thread debating about some topic where the only facts are made up in people's heads and not what was actually said.

Seriously... Someone commented they like disco giving credit to wm and now you're debating if he really meant it . As if you know his thoughts. Maybe you're right, and maybe not. But nobody knows. Including you.

Cupboard bare isn't the only thing getting old...

It was me asking a question that killed an otherwise wonderful thread . Got it.
