Not true - dead period equals no in-person recruiting either on or off campus. Letters/Emails/Text Msg and old fashioned phone calls as otherwise allowed by NCAA Compliance rules are ok.

Agreed. But the kid said I am getting interest from UConn but I haven't TALKED to anyone. Hence the dead period comment.

Just because a player is from the same home town means nothing. It's like saying every in state good player should want to play for UConn.
Its the same HS. I would expect UConn to at least make contact with the kid to see if its a potential fit.

Pair of UConn commits honored

>>Saturday, January 04, 2014

Bloom was the first-team tight end in Class AA after catching 45 passes for 830 yards and 12 touchdowns in eight games as a senior at Ligioner Valley.

Luke Carrezola was the first-team tight end in Class AAAA as he helped junior running back D'andre Pollard rush for 2,928 yards and Neshaminy HS run for 4,218 yards in 15 games. Carrezola also had four catches for 45 yards and as a defensive end had 20 tackles for loss and eight sacks.

Carrezola, who is also in the running for the Mr. Pennsylvania Football large division award, is planning to take an official visit to UConn from Jan. 17-19.<<

**Also sounds like January 17-19 will be a big weekend for visits - Rodrick mentioned he is also going up that week. Weekend of MBB v. Ville game.

Stupid question - can coaches/assistants etc. email potential and current recruits during this dead period, or other electronic means of non-voice communication? The rules and definitions seem either incomplete or ambiguous to me on this fact (found here: http://www.ncaa.org/student-athletes/resources/recruiting-calendars/2013-14-recruiting-calendars )

This lays out what is okay when... http://www.recruiticus.com/recruiti...act-periods-quiet-dead-evaluation-and-contact

Dumped this in the thread referencing "recruiting process kicking into high gear" but forgot to put it here - This is what I got after clearing out all the previous noise:

LB- Chris Britton (Harrisburg HS, PA) - January Enrollee?
DB- Jamar Summers (Prep @ Milford Academy) (Orange NJ) - January Enrollee?

QB- Logan Marchi (St. Paul HS, CT)
RB- Arkeel Newsome (Ansonia CT)
RB - Bryce McAllister (Suffield Academy)
TE - Alec Bloom (Ligonier Valley PA)

OL- Trey Rutherford (Kent School CT)
OL - Lamont Bradford (Timber Creek HS NJ)

DE/TE- Luke Carrezola (Neshaminy, PA)
LB/DE- Tom Rodrick (Leicester, MA)

Uconn is in The mix to get an official from Njoku according to an article on rivals. Would be a great late get. 6-4" wr.

Awesome news if true, is there a source to the noise? I'd love to see an article if there is one. I'm trying to re-wallpaper my room, and want good news for it for a change. :)

Has already been to Miami: "I have two weeks to schedule my visits," noted Njoku. "Right now it's between Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, and UConn. Those are the schools where I feel most at home. Hopefully I can find what I'm looking for with them on my visits."

Going to tOSU on the 17th.

Commits to us or not, we are battling Ohio State and Penn State for a recruit. There, it has been actually written in our lifetimes.

So this is first team all state for all divisions? Like the best DE and best TE in the state of PA, as chosen by USA Today?

Appears to be... Top 24 - All Divisions.

The listed QB (Offensive Player of the Year) that is going to VA Tech was the Gatorade POY for PA.

Uconn just offered 6-4/235 OLB James Prather from Memphis, TN. The kid runs a 4.6 forty and will fit well in the 3-4 scheme. Uconn's in his top 4

http:// /Recruitment/James-Prather-20133/RecruitInterests

Rivals has him having offers from Memphis, Northern Illinois, Furman, and Richmond.

Sounds like Prather will be joining Rodrick and Carrezola on a visit next weekend.
