That's the chatter right now.

That seems light for running a child rape factory.

If true, that puts them in line with TSU from the movie Necessary Roughness.

It would be. The death penalty was a one year deal. PSU could ride that out.

A 5 year bowl ban means every upperclassman leaves as well as the coaching staff. It also means next to zero recruits. It's 10-15 years before they get back if at all.

There is nothing dumber than vacating wins but good for Bobby Bowden.

Wonder if they have to return all bowl monies from those years. I believe USC had to do so (could be wrong).

“@YahooForde: Penn State penalties: fine of 60 million; no postseason 4 yrs; 10 schols cut per year for four years; vacated win since 98; 5 yrs probation”

“@schadjoe: NCAA: "Penn State must also reduce 10 initial and 20 total scholarships each year for a four-year period."”

This seems to be the most confusing sanction (schollies) so far...

And now the floodgates open. Top recruit Greg Webb switches to UNC. I hope other programs are gonna be as accomidating to other kids.

Anyone who thinks they got off light is crazy. The death penalty sure would have been a lighter sentence.

Does anyone know what 10 initial and 20 total means? And what does this mean for 13 class?

That math doesnt work. At first sounded like 10 initial each year. Whats the total max now?

Actually it might work given that 15 x 4 would be 60 with no defections. They need to stay below that.

the part i have a problem with is the NCAA fining them $60m. what's the reasoning that the NCAA should reap a windfall out of this?

The $60M goes to child protection charities, not to NCAA.

that makes sense

when they say a 20 scholarship reduction for 4 years, does that mean they basically don't get a class this year, and then the 20 loss the following years is pretty much just not having that class, or are they reduced from offering 20 this year, and again the following 3 years?

10 fewer new scholarships per year (freshmen/transfers) and 20 fewer overall (graduating seniors/non-renewals)

The scholarship thing sounded confusing to me too. I took it that they lose 10 recruits plus 10 upper classmen each year, but I'm not usre that makes sense. I doubt the NCAA would require anyone who is already on scholarship to give it up. In any case it sounds like for the next four years they are effectively a 1AA team as far as scholarships go.

If its 20 less in total thats 65. Given 10 less each year plus current transfers they will be under 65fairly soon. It thins out the amount of upperclassmen fairly quickly.
