Who Will UConn Get?
|This list of recruits are who looks to be the staffs top priorities right now at each position. Each has my prediction of whether or not UConn will get them. My predictions are made with all of the information that I know and plenty of guesses.
PG:
Jordan McLaughlin: Currently the west coast schools are recruiting him the hardest but he says that he has no favorites. However, it looks like he will visit UConn officially at some point this fall. With that being said, I think it will be very hard to get him to leave the west coast and that UConn will not get Jordan McLaughlin.
Josh Perkins: Another west coast player where it will take a lot to get him to leave the west coast. He and his dad have been saying that he will officially visit UConn before he commits on his birthday on August 25th. At this point it’s not clear if he will even visit and even if he does the visit will have to be very good to get Perkins. I believe that UConn will not get Josh Perkins.
Quentin Snider: He very recently de-committed from Louisville and is being recruited for the first time by other schools in years. He was offered by UConn the night he de-committed and has since been listing UConn very high on his list. He has also said that Ollie wants him to visit sometime in September. I know it’s very early in his recruitment but I think that Quentin Snider will end up committing to UConn.
SG:
Khadeen Carrington: It’s not clear on where UConn stands with him right now. He isn’t one of the main targets but he’s still being recruited just in case. He has seemed to like UConn in the past but other schools are after him harder. At this point I don’t think Khadeen Carrington comes to UConn.
Rashad Vaughn: He recently cut his list to eleven schools. However, it doesn’t look like he’s going to be coming to UConn. There are a lot of people that think he’s going to Kentucky and they are after him hard. UConn will not be getting Rashad Vaughn.
SF:
Kameron Chatman: When I talked to Chatman UConn wasn’t even recruiting him. That was a couple months ago. Now UConn is in his final five and very likely to receive an official visit. However, other schools are after him harder and more likely to get him. Kameron Chatman will not end up at UConn.
Terry Larrier: He cut his list down to ten schools early on Thursday and UConn was on the list. He also said that he is planning on visiting at some point this month. If UConn does put the full court press for him I think they get him. However, as his recruitment stands now I think that Terry Larrier doesn’t end up at UConn.
Kelly Oubre: He is currently down to eight schools. He has said that he wants to cut it down to five and then schedule all of his official visits. Right now he has one official set up to Kansas, who looks to be his leader, and has recently said he wants to visit Florida officially. UConn will not be getting Kelly Oubre.
Devin Robinson: About two weeks ago he said on twitter that he planned on cutting his list down soon but nothing has been announced since. It has been very quiet but it looks like he likes UConn quite a bit. He told Jerry Meyer that he would probably visit UConn at some point this fall. Right now I think that Devin Robinson does commit to UConn.
PF:
Leron Black: Black has gone from what looked to be UConn’s top priority to almost an afterthought. He isn’t being recruited hard at all by Ollie and it’s unclear if they are even recruiting him still. Leron Black will not end up at UConn.
Abdul Malik-Abu: He cut his list down to four schools on Wednesday. He also will be visiting Providence this weekend, UConn next Wednesday, and NC State and Florida in the next couple of weeks before deciding in the first week of September. Then there’s the package deal aspect. Currently I don’t think Abu and Terrell will go to the same college. Right now I believe that Abdul Malik-Abu will end up in Storrs.
C:
Paschal Chuckwu: The best player in Connecticut this upcoming year is being recruited by UConn and others. His recruitment had been very quiet until this past week he and his guardian did an interview with Rivals. They said he plans on cutting his list to eight or ten in the coming weeks and by all accounts UConn should be on it. It could change but right now I don’t think Paschal Chuckwu will end up at UConn.
Jabari Craig: Jabari is the latest addition to this list. He received an offer from UConn this past week and could turn into a bigger target. Right now the staff is going to have to continually contact him and build up a relationship with him. It’s very early but I don’t think Jabari Craig ends up at UConn.
Goodluck Okonoboh: There hasn’t been much news with him lately in terms of his recruitment. However, it does appear that he will be giving UConn a good look. He is cousins with Alex Oriakhi but he recently said that they are not close and he will not have a factor in his recruitment. Until something comes out concerning his recruitment and UConn I don’t think Goodluck Okonoboh will be ending up at UConn.
Currently I think UConn gets Quentin Snider, Devin Robinson, and Abdul Malik-Abu to go along with Daniel Hamilton and the transfer of Rodney Purvis in the class of 2014. I’m sure my predictions will change over the course of time as the staff starts going after certain recruits harder than others and goes after new targets.
