Weekly Recruiting Update, 9/9
Class of 2014:
Melvin Swift (PF): He recently de-committed from Xavier and now has received calls from UConn, St. Joe’s, South Carolina, Houston, UMass, Penn State, and Rhode Island. Per Coast 2 Coast Hoops.
Abdul Malik-Abu (PF): He visited Florida early in the week after reports said he would and he said he wouldn’t. Per Russ Wood.
Jordan McLaughlin (PG): He cut UConn from his list. Per Scout.
Bonzie Colson (PF): He received an offer from UConn this past week. Per Alex Kline. He will officially visit UConn October 11th-13th. Per Dave Borges.
Kelly Oubre (SF): His second official visit will be to Kentucky for Big Blue Madness. Per himself. His first visit is to Kansas while his other three visits are yet to be determined.
Paul White (PF): He took Arizona out of his final five and added in Miami. He visited Miami this past Thursday. His other officials to UConn, Georgetown, Minnesota, and DePaul will still be made.
Devin Robinson (SF): He set his in-home visits to all five of his final schools. His in-home visit with UConn will be on September 17th. Per Scout.
Jabari Craig (C): He has been accumulating offers much more often and now lists them from UConn, USC, Arizona State, Texas, Louisville, Marquette, Georgia Tech, Purdue, and Ohio State. Per Coast 2 Coast Hoops. His guardian also said this on twitter this past Wednesday: “I gotta give Uconn head coach Kevin Ollie a S/O after todays great conversation. I speak to a lot of coaches. He impressed me, great dude!” Per his guardian.
Quentin Snider (PG): Quentin visited Illinois officially this past weekend. Per himself. All reports are that the visit went well and that he could decide between UCLA and Illinois soon. He will have an in-home visit with UConn September 26th. Per Rivals.
Abdul Malik-Abu (PF): He committed to NC State this past Saturday. Per himself.
Devin Watson (PG): Currently the main schools recruiting him are UConn, Oregon State, and St. Mary’s. Per Coast 2 Coast Hoops.
Rashad Vaughn (SG): He has two official visits set up to Baylor and North Carolina. He will also be releasing a cut list down to eight school from his list to 11. He has a couple on in-homes set up but none of them are with UConn. Per Rivals. I wouldn’t be surprised if we were cut.
Donte Grantham (PF): He will be watched by UConn at some point this week. Per Evan Daniels.
Jeff Newberry (PG): The JuCo point guard was offered by UConn on Monday. Per JuCo Recruiting.
Class of 2015:
Prince Ali (SG): He now holds offers from UConn, Washington, Vanderbilt, LSU, Miami, UCF, USF, Nebraska, Illinois and Georgia. Per Coast 2 Coast Hoops.
