UConn is Among the Schools After Howard the Hardest
|Franklin Howard is currently working to get back into game shape after rupturing his ACL in a game this past summer. Despite not being able to see him play the staff felt confident enough to offer him and be among the schools that are after him the hardest.
In addition to UConn Howard mentioned Syracuse, Ohio State, Virginia, NC State, Georgetown, and Maryland as the other schools coming after him hard. In addition to those schools the highly touted junior also has offers from DePaul, SMU, Cincinnati, South Florida, Florida, Villanova, Seton Hall, Miami, and Virginia Tech.
So far Howard said that he has visited Syracuse, and Ohio State. However, he did say that he is trying to visit the rest of the schools that are after him the hardest at some point this year. He is getting started on the rest of those visits by going to Georgetown’s game today. As a timeline for his decision Howard had this to say, “No timeline, just whenever I feel the time is right. It could be soon though.” For that decision he is looking for a few things for his future school to be like, “Just where I feel is the best fit, where I can grow as an basketball player, student, and person.”
Coach Ollie has been going after taller point guards more often lately and standing at 6’5″ and 187lbs. Franklin Howard certainly is another. He describes himself as a, “Big guard that is transitioning into the point guard role. I’m a scorer and facilitator, very versatile. Can do a little bit of everything on the court.”
“The freedom coach Ollie gives to guards, and the pace they play with,” are some of the things that Howard likes about UConn. Every guard that UConn is currently recruiting says about the same thing. It’s clear that Ollie has been telling that to recruits and that they see it as something they would like. He also describes his relationship with Ollie as, “Well. He’s reached out to me over the last few months.”
We also talked a little bit about what he wants his college coaching staff to give to him. The things he listed are, “Trust from the coaches, a lot of wisdom, someone that will always have my back, and a coach that will get me better.”
