First Night Preview: Recruits

As we all know First Night will be nothing like it ever has been here at UConn, or most likely anywhere else for that matter. The men’s and women’s basketball teams will be combining to make two teams, Team Kevin and Team Geno, which will have some men’s and women’s players which will scrimmage for the majority of the night. UConn is one of the very few colleges that could attempt something like this with the amount of talent that will be participating. Both teams have elite talent and should do very well this season in both of their regular seasons, conference tournaments, and NCAA Tournaments.

First Night isn’t just a preview of what to possibly expect out of the teams though. Many colleges use their First Night, or Midnight Madness, as a major recruiting tool and UConn is no exception. Here’s a breakdown of who coach Ollie and his staff have coming in from each class:

A couple more local recruits could decide to attend First Night as well. I will have an article out this weekend or early next week with reactions from some of the recruits in attendance.

Also, if your not able to attend it will be broadcasted live online on WatchESPN at 7pm and it is a part of ESPN’s Midnight Madness coverage on ESPNU from 9pm to 1am. Only clips from First Night will be shown on ESPNU tonight.
