Malachi Richardson Down to 12

Malachi cut his list down to twelve schools late last night. Those twelve schools are UConn, Syracuse, Indiana, UNC, Rutgers, Ohio St, Georgetown, Florida, Miami, Villanova, Kansas, and Arizona. Last week he said that UConn, Indiana, Arizona, Georgetown, Ohio State, and Villanova were recruiting him the hardest. It was no shock that UConn made the list as he has been very high on UConn in the past. He told Jack Legwin that it would be a privilege to play basketball at UConn. He also was quoted saying this about UConn in a recent article by Jack Legwin, “Coach [Kevin] Ollie is a great coach, he has a great staff. UConn is a great school, and he has been making all of those guys better. Shabazz Napier is really going, he has been getting a lot better.”

I had a short conversation with Richardson after he tweeted out his final twelve last night. He did say that those final twelve are the ones left on his list, however, he did say that he would add two schools to his list if they offered. Those two schools, Duke and Kentucky. Although it does look like he likes UConn a lot based on the things he has said about them, it will be hard for any school to get him due to the caliber of the schools left on his list. Of his twelve schools currently on his list he only has two visits planned. He will be visiting Indiana the 24th of this month and Villanova the 28th. He told me in the past that he was going to visit UConn at the end of July but as the time came he was tired of traveling and didn’t make a visit. I believe that he will visit at some point in the future it’s just not clear when. Right now he is shaping up to be one of the staffs top targets in the class of 2015.
