First Live Period Recruiting Update
|by 3uconn
This past weekend many AAU teams got into the beginning of the main part of their schedules. Many elite teams are playing in the EYBL which held its first session was this past weekend in Los Angeles. I said in the last recruiting update that we would receive many updates on UConn recruiting targets and we did. Here they are:
-
Class of 2014:
Kameron Chatman (SF)– He announced a new list this weekend. He was down to UConn, Louisville, Georgetown, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Michigan, and Arizona. Now he has cut Georgetown off his list and has seven left. However, he said that he was still somewhat open to other schools and his list isn’t final. Of his remaining seven he said that Michigan, Washington, and Oregon are recruiting him the hardest right now.
Kaleb Joseph (PG)– This weekend he mentioned that UConn, Miami, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Marquette are recruiting him the hardest and that they have all offered him while Duke is also expressing good interest but haven’t offered yet. He also said Boston College, Seton Hall, and Tennessee have offered. At the end he said he plans on visiting UConn and Syracuse in the near future. They could be official visits but are more likely unofficial visits based on his living in New England.
Devin Robinson (SG/SF)– He’s not the most known player on UConn’s radar but he has been rising up rankings lately. He said that UConn, Auburn, Xavier, Rutgers, VCU, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, and Clemson are schools that stand out. He then said that he wants to visit UConn later on in the summer. Other schools showing interest are Cincinnati, Miami, Providence, UNC-Greensboro, and Georgetown.
Jordan McLaughlin (PG)– Late Saturday night he revealed at top seven of UConn, USC, UCLA, San Diego State, Indiana, Kansas, and Gonzaga. That left off Stanford, UNLV, and New Mexico from his previous final ten. Of his final seven he will be having in-home visits with UCLA this Wednesday and Gonzaga Thursday.
Daniel Hamilton (SG/SF)– Perhaps the best news for UConn on the recruiting front came from Mr. Hamilton. He revealed that he will be officially visiting UConn the first weekend of May.However, UTEP, USC, UCLA, UNLV, and Marquette are after him. His brother, Isaac, is signed to attend UTEP this fall and many believe Daniel may follow his brother there. Daniel though has repeatedly said he’s completely open to any school recruiting him.
Trayvon Reed (C)– Reed is a new name on UConn’s radar. He revealed a list of offers including UConn, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Georgetown, Kansas, Georgia, Florida State, Miami, Maryland, Wake Forest, and Florida among others. He is a very large body, like another UConn target Paschal Chuckwu, and stands at 7’2″. He said that he plans on waiting and signing next spring.
Leron Black (SF/PF)– He hasn’t been playing lately due to an injury but that isn’t stopping schools from recruiting him. He had an in-home visit with Georgia Tech Monday night and has other in-home visits planned this week with UConn, Florida, Ohio State, Kansas, and North Carolina State. This looks to be good for UConn as these are schools that Leron has been saying are recruiting him the hardest. On April 6th he told Rivals that UConn, Florida, North Carolina State and Ohio State were after him the hardest. Then on Monday his AAU coach told Adam Zagoria that Leron would “definitely” be visiting UConn and Florida this fall and at this time Ohio State, Illinois, and Kansas are the favorites for the other three officials.
Terry Larrier (SF)– Another new name that UConn may be recruiting a bit. This weekend he said that he has offers from UConn, VCU, Miami, Georgetown, Villanova, Maryland, Providence, St. Joes, Siena and Drexel. He be more of a backup plan at this moment if the staff misses on other highly rated players.
Goodluck Okonoboh (C)– It looks as if the staff is no longer going after this shot blocker extraordinaire. He is also the cousin of former UConn player Alex Oriakhi. This past weekend he said that he knew Indiana, Maryland, Tennessee, Texas, Gonzaga, Missouri, Minnesota, Pittsburgh and Kansas were the schools recruiting him.
Brandon Francis (SG)– Another new name and offer for UConn. He is most likely another backup plan for the staff right now. He received his offer from UConn on Monday. He also has offers or interest from Florida, Miami, Illinois, Kansas State, Georgetown, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, St. John’s, and South Carolina.

Class of 2015:
Donovan Mitchell (SG)– UConn offered him a few months back and he is still mentioning them as recruiting him. This past weekend at the Pitt Jam Fest he said that he has offers from UConn, Iona, Providence, Iowa, Cincinnati, Boston College, and Maryland. However, he is claiming interest from high-major colleges like UNC and Kansas.
Stephen Zimmerman (C)– This past weekend in Los Angeles he said UCLA, Arizona, and UNLV are coming after him very hard. He then stated UConn, Kansas, Oregon, and Memphis have also offered and are recruiting him actively. Then there is Michigan who is begging for a visit and plan to offer him during the visit if he goes.
Tyler Dorsey (CG)– UConn has been recruiting him hard lately and seems to be targeting him as a possible major target in 2015. Arizona, California, Washington, UCLA, and USC are also recruiting him hard. He is AAU teammates with 2014 Daniel Hamilton and the staff seems to be going after them hard together.
