Curtis Cobb Gives An Update

Like many recruits all around the country, specifically in New England, Cobb knows what UConn is all about, winning. That’s been solidified by three national championships and many conference championships. It’s one of the things that Cobb likes about UConn saying, “[I like] the history around the UConn basketball program as a whole.” He also likes, “The environment, and coaching staff.”

Curtis Cobb is a 6’5″ 180lbs. shooting guard that attends Wilbraham and Monson Academy. He describes himself as, “A player who can create for not only myself but my teammates. I’m more than just a shooter, I can get to the basket and make a play also. My dribbling has improved greatly and my defense is getting a lot better daily.” His recent play has been garnering him more interest from high majors such as Duke and N.C. State who were both at a recent game of his.

In addition to getting interest from Duke and N.C. State he has also been getting contacted by Boston College, George Mason, West Virginia, Florida State, Minnesota, and New Mexico. He has offers from UConn, URI, Creighton, St. Bonaventure, Temple, LaSalle, Providence, and Towson as of now. Out of all of those schools he said that he would like to visit Creighton at some point and he’s already visited UConn, Temple and URI.

As for what Cobb is looking for in schools he mentioned, “A school with good academics, a good staff to help me development as a more well rounded player and put me in the position to succeed.” In addition to that he wants his college coach to have certain attributes about him, “[I want] a coach that I can come to for pretty much anything on an off the court. A person I know trusts me to make the right play and will let me play through my mistakes.”

Curtis Cobb has been on UConn’s radar for quite some time now and received his offer from the staff this past summer. That has given him time to build a relationship with the staff. He currently describes it as, “A good relationship. I haven’t talked to Ollie lately but we’ve had some good conversations.” With Cobb not likely to decide soon there is plenty of time for Ollie and the staff to get on him harder depending in how things happen with the current roster.
