Trevor Stanback Wants to Visit UConn Soon

2016 big man Trevor Stanback out of Chaminade High School in California is yet another young top talent from the west coast. Standing at a solid 6’10” and 215lbs. with two years left of high school basketball he’s certainly someone to watch that could become a major big man target for UConn in his class.

As it stands now, Stanback lists UConn as one of two schools recruiting him the hardest. He mentioned NC State as the other. He did his due diligence to the Wolfpack by taking an unofficial visit there last week. On the same trip he also went to UNC for an unofficial as well. He did tell me that he is planning on visiting UConn and UCLA sometime soon. As for his whole list right now he said that UConn, UNLV, USC, ASU, and NC State have offered him as of now and UNLV is showing a lot of interest.

When I asked him specifically about UConn he had this to say, “It’s back east and that’s where some of my family lives. It’s a great school academically and the coach seems like a great guy, I really like the coaches. They seem really genuine and care about their players. I’m only a sophomore so they can’t talk to me too much but they came to my school my freshman year and then again this year.” However, as of now schools can talk to sophomores all the time. At midnight Sunday morning this past weekend phones of 2016 recruits were buzzing all over the country and there’s no doubt Trevor’s was as well. A few days before he told me this about how he was expecting it to be, “A little hectic but I’m excited.”

Stanback describes himself as, “A good defender. I average 5 or 6 blocks and I can rebound well. I have a right and left hand hook shot and a decent jump shot.” This high school season he averaged about 10 PPG, 8 RPG, and 4 BPG. Not to mention he’s already a captain on his team as a sophomore.

One other thing I asked him to talk about is what he’s looking for in future colleges. “Who the coach is, how I fit into the team, and the quality of the education at the school,” he explained. For more on the coach he added this in, “Someone who is understanding and someone who I can go to if I have a concern or problem. Also a person who has my best interests at heart.”
