Recruits Rolling In
|This happens every year. Commits come in bunches. We’ve received 4 commits in 3 days, and I think the coaching staff has eased some of the concerns the fanbase was starting to show since we had no 2015 commits at the beginning of June. Okay Husky fans, we can all calm down. Diaco can close the deal with a recruit.
I won’t go into detail on each recruit, other bloggers on the site are already doing so (and doing an amazing job at it IMHO). But I will offer my thoughts as a whole.
First, people will scream about ratings and stars and other P5 offers our commits may have had. I say, who cares. 5 stars or no stars, 40 FBS offers or none, Diaco and his staff felt strongly enough about these kids to offer them. He felt they were good enough for UConn football and to help begin this process of turning the program around. These are kids that WANT to be here. How can one not get behind that?
Second, the size of these guys! Pasqualoni would talk about “prototypes”, and Diaco is sure finding them. Balis was hired for a reason. Imagine what these kids will look like a year into his strength program. Exciting to think about!
Third, I absolutely love the twitter love the new commits have given each other. That means something in this day and age. Recruits can easily help get other recruits here. It shows a sense of family that kids will want to be apart of. I loved it when Lagow did that two years ago, and I’m glad our first few recruits of 2015 are utilizing social media to show UConn football, it’s recruits, and the fans some love.
It’s early, and a lot can happen from now until signing day in February of 2015. But until then, I’m loving the beginnings of this class. They seem like great kids, and I’m happy to have them represent this university.
