Weekly Recap 11/15 – 11/21
|Weekly Recap
11/17 – vs. Boston University (77-60 W)
- UConn had a difficult time putting the Terriers away in the second half. The game was almost out of reach in the first half, but the Huskies fell asleep on defense and played stagnant offense for the first 10 minutes of the second frame. More importantly, this game may have been DeAndre Daniels coming out party. He scored 24 points but only grabbed 3 rebounds. The game was put away in the final minutes by Shabazz Napier, who was 4 assists shy of a double-double.
11/21 – vs. Boston College (72-70 W)
- This might have been the worst performance by UConn since the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Luckily, the Huskies were able to squander out a victory. The guards did not play up to expectations all night. Shabazz Napier showed a little life late in the second half and Ryan Boatright played solid down the stretch, but the run n’ gun scoring threat wasn’t there all night. DeAndre Daniels, who scored 23 points, had a huge first half. The second half was characterized by poor defense, lazy offense, and bad shot selections. BC was able to bring the game to 2 within 4 seconds, but a Ryan Boatright block sealed the win.
11/22 – vs. Indiana
11/26 – vs. Loyola (MD)
UConn should take down Loyola, but the biggest game of the year might come against Indiana at MSG. I only see UConn losing this game is if the Hoosiers badly out-rebound the Huskies. Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright won’t play like they did against BC, so if Niels Giffey, Omar Calhoun, or DeAndre Daniels can score easily, it should be a win.
