2017 Stud Receives an Offer

Standing at 6’8″ and being a strong 225lbs. as just freshman there’s no doubt Cody Riley has a very good future ahead of him in basketball. It’s not just that, that proves it. It’s also the college scholarships that have been offered to him already by USC, Arizona, Kansas, and his newest one, UConn. In addition to those offers he has been receiving interest from Texas, UNC, and the entire PAC-12.

I caught up with him to talk about the recent UConn offer which he seemed very happy to have revived. “I just felt really blessed that all the long nights in the gym are starting to pay off and at the same time it was motivation to keep getting better,” was his initial reaction.

As for what was told to Riley when he got the offer, “Coach Kevin Ollie told me I would have a scholarship there when ever I’m ready to take it,” he explained. Coach Ollie watched him a few times during the evaluation period in late April. Riley plays on the same AAU team as 2015 UConn target Bennie Boatwright. I also asked him what he knows about UConn right now. “It’s a good school academic wise and from what the coach says the whole team, including the staff, is like a family,” he said. That is certainly true about UConn.

Cody describes himself as a, “Pick your poison type of player. I also do a really good job of getting teammates buckets and distributing the ball.”
