1st Half Analysis

@MattSchonvisky

12-10 UCONN at the half.

Chandler Whitmer started with a solid throw to WR Davis and ended with a perfect strike to him on a touchdown pass. His final pass of the half was in desperation with seconds left on a heave to Kamal Abrams, which was right on the money. In between there was hesitation, indecisiveness and some mistakes. He’s been sacked twice and also fumbled away the ball on a non-contact play. He finished the first half 8-15 for 95 yards and a 30 yard TD.

Heading in, Bob Diaco said Arkeel Newsome would see more snaps and that has rung true. How much of it has to do with Josh Marriner fumbling in his own end for a touchdown and suffering an injury on the subsequent kickoff, remains to be seen. We have not seen Marriner since.

Newsome has only 2 carries, however, for 22 yards, including a 20 yard burst where he hit a hole in the seam.

The defense has played incredibly well, giving up just 84 yards on 26 plays. The ten points are all on the offense.

It seemed the offense found some rhythm and some holes to attack on the Stony Brook defense towards the latter half of the 2nd quarter. Expect the Huskies to attack with the pass, down the field.

Davis finished the half with 3 catches and 62 yards. Expect those numbers to at least double in the second half.

We will have full coverage of the second half and Diaco’s post-game press conference, following the game.

Final prediction holds true: 38-10 UCONN
