Worse.Watching Georgetown basketball in Capital One is like a morgue. Has to be the worst league atmosphere other than DePaul
Makes you appreciate what UConn has accomplished even with the Ollie years. It just sucks because GTown was such a cool team back in the day. The uniforms, John Thompson stalking the sidelines, the rep for being tough as hell. Just sad to see them and so many other classic 80s/90s teams just become this.
And there’s a strong possibility that you get hit with a water bottle if you aren’t careful.Watching Georgetown basketball in Capital One is like a morgue. Has to be the worst league atmosphere other than DePaul
WOW.
It will be jumping on Saturday when Led Zeppelin comes to town 😜
That was the longest 5 minute OT period in history. It took close to a half an hour real time.In all seriousness they just blew the game at Creighton that they had won
Seriously? Not a good sight to see. I'm sure we'll light it up for them on Saturday. I can't imagine Cooley will be here too much longer.
It's worse. Look at DFW Hoya's post below. Hell, you don't even have to look at his post. Just a simple eyes and ears test will tell you DePaul's homecourt gets louder. Just a few games ago I heard more noise at DePaul's homecourt. Georgetown's game are super quiet to the point you can audibly and clearly hear Ed Cooley.Watching Georgetown basketball in Capital One is like a morgue. Ed Cooley did a good job in resurrecting Providence Basketball. He took Providence to the NCAAT 7 times in 12 years. Was he great in the Big Dance? No. But that program was left for dead when Cooley arrived. They only made the NCAAT twice in the 10 years Tim Welsh coached there with both appearances being first round exits and then when Keno Davis took over he told Tim Welsh "hold my beer" and took Providence Basketball from bad to much worse and shoved their fan base into pure apathy. You Know Georgetown is in Trouble When…
... they pay Ed Cooley $6 million a year in the hopes of making their team relevant again.
What did Coley actually achieve at Providence? Basically, his reputation is that Providence didn't completely suck while he was there. There really isn't a lot of material postseason success, just "not sucking" that was always a head scratcher to me.

Spike Lee? He is such an opportunist. Where was he during the Johnnies' great years? All the St.Johns fans who crawled out of their graves for last season- Spike Lee, Brandon Tierney, Tommy Smokes.... now are like "I liked it better in the grave. It's not as quiet as Carnesecca Arena but at least I dont have to deal with Queens traffic"
Sad. G'town was our away game roadtrip from '90-95 and it was always a scene. It just sucks because GTown was such a cool team back in the day. The uniforms, John Thompson stalking the sidelines, the rep for being tough as hell. Just sad to see them and so many other classic 80s/90s teams just become this.
Ewing had more wins (34) in his first two seasons than Cooley did (27), which is crazy. I didn't realize that. Can he reach 16 wins this season (Ewing had 15 in his third year)?Ed Cooley did a good job in resurrecting Providence Basketball. He took Providence to the NCAAT 7 times in 12 years. Now having said all of that, I feel like he has underwhelmed at Georgetown and I am disappointed in his performance at Georgetown up to this point. I know he has dealt with some untimely injuries and the unexpected departure of Thomas Sorber, but I still think they should be better as this is year 3 he has coached there.
Not sucking is often the goal. Ask any Jet fan. Actually that is the preseason goal of 9 of the 11 Big East teams. Do you honestly think Seaton Hall and DePaul went into the season thinking our goal is to win a national championship? Butler ? Please. I even question Villanova now.You Know Georgetown is in Trouble When…

Not sucking is probably the goal of 14 out of the 18 teams in the ACC. With BC, winning one conference game seems to be the goal. Not sucking is often the goal. Ask any Jet fan. You get nice people and jerks from all schools, but the two most insufferable groups I've dealt with in sports and life are Duke and Georgetown. I don't know if the schools attract jerks or turns good kids into jerks, but it's consistent.Hard for me to sympathize with Georgetown.
Year in and year out at the BET, the worst fans were always Pitt, then Georgetwon. They just sneer and act like they go to Harvard.
Oddly, I found that in person, Syracuse fans were actually reasonable and pretty good.
My sense from interacting with BE fans at the tourney goes like this:
1. Syracuse
2. Villanova
3................
98. Louisville
99. Georgetown
100. Pitt
Some fan bases are totally missing at the tourney which is why I put ellipses there.
