You can change one UConn loss to a win. Which game are you chosing?

Interestingly, I was at the UCLA, UNC and George Mason games. Stopped attending figuring I was the jinx. Won six titles since then, Hmmm!
This is why I’ve been skipping the post season/F4. So mad I didn’t go in 24, as there was no scenario that would have them losing. Well I guess losing to UM means I can start attending

Better than going in 2009........

Outside of the Michigan one.

George Mason of course. I remember feeling a sense of disbelief and shock for that game.

Second would be 2009 Michigan State. I was more sad for those guys and on the verge of tears after that last slam they had. 2009 had an amazing season and I really wish that Dyson injury didn’t happen.

Might’ve been a special attachment to those guys because we really saw those players grow up from the ground up to get there. Whole rotation outside of Kemba played together for 3 years which just seems crazy to think about these days.

.-.
For years it would have been Duke 1990
Because , only older fans will understand a final four was the impossible dream and we had a near decade of frustration after that that compounded that heartbreak.
However with 8 FF’s and 6 NC
I have to change that to 2026 .
A lose in the Championship game magnifies it. Plus 3 in 4 years makes the program not a simply a blue blood but a legendary of near mythological status. .
We were playing an alleged super team spotted them 13 from the FT line and they were hanging on at the end.
That effort from these guys was heroic and exceeded the expectations of even diehard fans like me.
Throw in the fact 2 key players were playing so hurt they needed surgery in the post season and this team may be legendary.

The NM St loss propelled us to the best four year stretch we've ever had. I can't believe people want to change that.

Basically every prior loss provided some future benefit. UNC in 1998 was the impetus for our first title. Texas in 2003 led to our second.

I don't know what's ahead that wouldn't be there if we pulled out the Michigan game, and as it's difficult to do better than winning it all, I will say that is the only loss worth changing. I do however reserve the right to retract that thought if we end up winning three in four years in the not too distant future.

Since ‘95 UCLA has been mentioned a few times, I will go with ‘96 Miss State. I know Ricky was injured which might have capped how much further we could have gone but losing in the fashion we did (outmuscled, career games from their shooters) still irks me.
The guy who had a great shooting night was a 3-time All-SEC guard and a 41% 3 point shooter who had it going that day. He made 7. Nobody else on the team made a 3. That team was very good. They were a fringe top 10 team for part of the season but had some injuries that hurt them

No diff than the Bronx is Burning 1990 Yankees, which was the negative catalyst that launch their dynasty. George sicked an illegal snitch on Winfield, got suspended from ever being GM again and Gene Michael's built the Yankees dynasty.

Sometimes a hiccup has a purpose.

Ray Allen's team over UCLA in the 1996 NCAA Tournament. The one team that could beat us that tournament.

For me it's gotta be the last game we just played, but if not that one, I'd choose the New Mexico State loss in 2022. I really think that team was special, and RJ Cole deserved better going out.

It was a bullshit ass game. They shot 65% from 3 and we shot 30% from 3. If they shot 50% from 3 even, we probably win the game.
The only one that guarantees another title is the Michigan game. Thats the right answer.

1995. 1996 was the loss to Mississippi St. We went through a lot of heartache during the 1990s until the 1999 break through.
