In contrast to the limited information provided thus far about construction progress of the Champions Center, there is an abundance of ballyhoo about this project, readily available on line.
Weekly videos of arena updates may be viewed on www.xlcenter.com, then access Chapter 40.
Why 40? To commemorate 40th birthday of this now very dated arena. I read somewhere of a $34M pricetag for the renovations. Re-opening is 50+ days away, apparently with a game between the Knicks and Celtics. Unfortunately, Larry Bird won't be walking in the door.
So our UConn Huskies will play several games in a renovated XL Center, one in the spiffy Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, possibly one at Mohegan Sun and several at their real home, Gampel (where a few thousand faithful can admire all those banners and honored jerseys from bench seats).
