When they sell out today, it will be 4th fourth straight and 20th of the season. They will be averaging over 5,500.

Where are the idiots that thought no one would ever go to Hartford to see a ball game? Raise your hands. Seems like as good a time s any to bring out these golden oldies. Remember....

Steal the team from a neighbor who has successfully hosted it for years, stupid team name, stadium project is a mess...nice job all around.

How many people going to and from Yard Goats games do you predict will be raped or murdered in the 1st year?

This should be the real fear -- not that the park opens late or is in a "bad" section, but that all of the incompetence of the team leads to loss of affiliation.

I'm guessing below the league average with 3,900 a game or 273,000 for 70 games. You know....if they actually open at all.

They are doing very well; a rare bright spot in Hartford.

But this sell out streak has a lot to do with the Tebow effect, too.

Boy oh boy, does he move slowly out there.

Yeah, but you haven't seen how slowly I move at all times. By comparison, Tebow is a blur.

And he's a great salesman too, if he sold out 20 yard goat games.
I didn't suggest that he sold out 20 of them; you were referring to the current streak of four games, of which three were against the Rumble Ponies.

As I said, no doubt they are doing very well; but Tebow has also been a huge draw wherever the Rumble Ponies have played.

My dad's not a sports guy but I took him to a game this Sunday and he loved it. We took the Hartford Line during the free weekend which I can see boosting attendance even more. I can also tell you that the late 20's early 30's crowd absolutely loves the stadium too. I have friends going a few times a month from New Haven and we have to plan at least a few weeks out because games sell out so fast. They are absolutely killing it!

It's not Tebow, he is a draw but any weekend game that has even slightly decent weather is sold out. From the article about DD Stadium winning best ballpark for the 2nd year in a row:

"This year, the Yard Goats are leading the entire Eastern League in total attendance (216,370) and have played in front of 20 sellout crowds. The Yard Goats have been sold out each game over the past four weekends (Friday-Sunday) and have played in front of standing room crowds in 18 of the past 25 games in Hartford."

Can't help but think that this is a great host location for a playoff series.

It's looking like they will defend their title of Best Double-A Ballpark. Still time to vote - LINK

add: Hey! They won again! Congrats to the Yard Goats!
It looks like it will be a while before the stadium is no longer ranked #1 or in the top 3.

If you can't get in to the Yard Goats, you can try the Bees. They have a Groupon right now.

The Bees are a good alternative to the Goats. It just gets depressing when barely anyone shows up to their games.
