I just received the 80th anniversary issue of Yankee Magazine. The feature article is titled "Gifts New England Gave to America", and consists of short narratives of the eighty gifts. Among them are the Glenwood cook stove, Vermont country stores, Beacon Hill, fall foliage, lighthouses, the White Mountains, cranberries, Cape Cod cottages, toll house cookies, fried clams, Louis' Lunch (New Haven), Indian pudding, covered bridges and more.
There are a few "sports related" gifts including Mark "The Bird" Fidrych, Mike Eruzione, Ted Williams and Bill Belichick.
On page 133 is gift #77 titled "The Pride of Storrs Connecticut". It features a photo of the team following the final four victory in Tampa last April and a short paragraph on Geno, the program, the 10 NCs, and the 90 game streak.
