While I'm as anxious to see Z in action as the rest of you, I'm not ready to crown her as the second coming just yet.

Geno's positive remarks go a long way in my book as to this young lady's potential but, as they say, the proof is in the pudding.

I'm hoping that the pressure to succeed in the role she'll be playing doesn't affect her and that she has a terrific two-year career with our Huskies.

With all the talent that will surround her, Z doesn’t need to be great, just consistent. Rebound the ball, block a few shots, score every so often. Mostly, Z has to step up to the challenge of the big games.

FYI, the leading shot blocker from a P5 conference last season was 6' 6" Emily Potter from Utah at 2.87 blocks per game. I personally would be delighted if Z averaged anything over 2 blocked shots per game.

Blocks are not the only indicator of a good rim protector. The amount of shots altered is far more important than the number of shots blocked.

Blocking shots is great, but challenging shots is what it's all about, and I suspect Z will be a lot more active on defense playing for Geno.

Agree. Boxing out, getting rebounds followed by a quick outlet pass is more valuable.

Agree. Boxing out, getting rebounds followed by a quick outlet pass is more valuable.

Both good points. Blocking a couple of shots early can take the heart of the opponent and either they stop trying to drive or as TT pointed out they alter their shots. It's difficult to quantify many of the things that make up a great post defender.
