I think we all assumed this would happen. How does the $20M get split between the current BE members?

uconn/ruty/cincy/lville/usf should be the 1's who get the $ to split. $4mil to each for pleasures.

it'll go to Boise / Memphis / whoever's exit fee to get them in a year ahead of schedule.

WTF is the point of having conference bylaws if you're going to concede so quickly? Guess SU and Pitt just have to pony up 20 million each, both be out the door as well for next year then we'd all be royally phucked in regards to our schedule. The BE is one giant fustercluck.

You might as well rip up the bylaws because they're not worth the paper they're printed on. What a friggin mess we have in our hands.

Hey, at least Pitino's happy.

20 million plus exit fee is pretty good coin especially if that is contigent on one more member. Can't wait for wvu to realize the grass wasn't greener

I agree Dan. However, I can see a 50/50 split for Football+ schools and basketball onlies.

$10M for football - ($10/5 teams) $2M for UConn Rutgers Cincy Ville USF Football
$10 for Basketball - ($10/13 teams) $.77M for UConn Rutgers Cincy Ville USF Hall Johnnies PC ND Gtown Nova Depaul Marq.

So $2.77M to lose our best football opponent for history. Sucks.

Did you see the comments at the end of the article saying that if there are only 7 teams next year RU and SU are talking about playing each other twice?

What a Mickey Mouse league. It is hard to believe that this is where the league has ended up. Teams playing each other twice to fill the schedule. I have no idea how Marinatto still has a job.

WVU and the Big XII better get ready for a major lawsuit.

I'd personally like to see WVU get "crippled" in a lawsuit. Somebody has got to stop this conference dating (we're together, we're not, I'll still take you to the prom, sorry I got someone else to go with). This is crap. Somebody: NCAA, ESPN & Networks, Congress needs to take out a map of the USA and divide 65 BCS teams plus a few others (Boise,Air Force, TCU and does Notre Dame still have football?) into 6 to 8 conferences that make regional sense.

We could be hosting Boise in 2012. Better than playing Pitt or USF twice. Hell, better than hosting WV.

And good riddance.

My only question is, does this pave the way for Pitt and Syracuse to leave early as well?

They probably won't leave this year since the ACC doesn't need them to join like the Big 12 did. But you better cross them off your 2013 schedule because they'll be gone by then. They won't wait the full 27 months.

Which won't be as bas as this upcoming season, at least they will be picking up most of the other new BE teams for 2013 as well.

Agreed. Our schedule will be full if they stay for the this season. All the new teams, except Navy, will be in by 2013 so Pitt and Syracuse can easily go their way. The could have been said about WVU but that ship has sailed.
