WR TJ Sheffield declares for NFL Draft

Out of curiosity, were there any other options for him?

Best of luck in your future endeavors, T.J. Thank you for choosing UConn to play your final season and contributing to this season that will be a great energy jolt and propel UConn Football to bigger and greater things in the future.

Best of luck to TJ. Most of us forgot that football players are allowed to return a punt before he came here. Plus, he was a strong WR to boot. Good hands, bailed us out on 3rd and long numerous times.

Go get it, TJ!!!

Best of Luck to this guy.

Both sides got what they wanted with his addition last summer.

The team got a solid slot WR and a good punt returner, the latter something we have been missing forever

TJ got to put up the most yards, catches, longest reception of his career and fielded more punts this season than his entire time at Purdue.

Win - Win

That, and him returning punts calmed my nerves and prevented anxiety attacks whenever the opposition punted, knowing TJ will handle them cleanly. In years past I was always holding my breath whenever the opposition punted.

Didn't we go a few years without fielding them at all? Or did it just seem that way?

When I think of Sheffield the phrase “solid and dependable” comes to mind. Never had a concern with his decision making and hands in the return game and was just so reliable on offense. This was a great addition this year and I hope he plays somewhere on the next level.

I think that is true, too, as UConn lost about 10-20 yards on the ball rolling. And the reason for that was because Edsall was too worried about the punt returner mishandling the punt.

Pretty sure it was Diaco that instructed every punt to be a fair catch and no attempt at a return.

Love the effort TJ put in. Would be a positive influence on any team he plays for. If he doesn't catch on in the NFL I hope he has other options in football. Rooting for him all the way!

He was a solid player who returned punts and made great catches as a third down receiver.

He can stick if he gets the chance Thank you TJ
