OT: Wow! Duke over ND

For any old timers, one thing that’s pretty awesome to see is the success of standout guards from the late 90s/early 00s who are now great coaches. Ralph was a standout at UCONN, Lawson at Tennessee, Ivey at Notre Dame.

All 3:
-won and lost games against each other 25ish years ago

-stuck around the sport either playing, coaching, or broadcasting (or if you’re Kara Lawson, all 3)

-started as head coaches within a year of each other

-and all 3 are doing a GREAT job of revamping their programs

Wesbeld looks checked out. Overall, ND looks to be treating their bigs like second class citizens when it comes to shot attempts. And many of the attempts they do get are offensive rebounds or bailing out a guard.
Westbeld got knocked in the nose and didn’t look the same when she came back in. I think they said she also got hit yesterday.

I thought the whole team looked a bit lackadaisical. They play like that in the dance and they might not make it beyond the round of 16.

Have gotten to see multiple ND games lately and agree that their bigs are not looking for shots and when they get them, don't appear comfortable. Suspect that some of this is end of year fatigue and some is based on ND being such a guard-oriented team. No one should underestimate them in the NCAA's since when they turn it on, they are as good as anyone out there.

First, happy for Kara and our Duke-loving Boneyard posters.

Second, not really shocked - if you take credence on betting lines and I do - the one I saw on ESPN had ND favored by only 4.5 points.

Somewhat not surprised with yesterday's results. ND's game vs. Cal on Friday was underwhelming.

I thought that after the way Westbeld started her career, she would have been an AA by now. I wonder what happened. Also, I think ND peaked too soon. However, they should still be a dangerous team in the tournament.

They definitely have all the pieces, but they need to use them all. Especially, since their bench isn't all that strong. Couple of games back Wesbeld had only like 4 shot attempts. Not sure why because I didn't watch the game, but I was very surprised.
