The DePaul job is news, at least to me. The story that Geno contacted Duke to coach its women's team has been out there for several years. As I recall the story, Geno reached out to Duke and was told to submit a resume. This was after Geno had led UConn to its first Final Four in 1991.

Do you wonder why DUKE is what it is?........Somebody will wake up a smell the roses in Durham soon.........How many AA will they get next season to sit on their bench....When I watch Coach P more interested in how much her players bench press over anything else, I knew they were in deep trouble.....How about getting your players to understand there is 40 minutes in a game......How did I get side tracked?............

Triad, you're link doesn't work. (Can't wait to see it!)

This is news to me! Never heard this before.

And now I feel worse.

I thought that he expressed interest in the Duke job after the first NC. That would make it even more wow.

No. GG was coach 1992-2007. The timing matches what UConnCat said - just after the final 4 in 91.

Did you know @GenoAuriemma interviewed for DePaul women's job in 1984. Or that he later tried to get the Duke job? #UConnwmen #gulpWon

(Wonder what Triad and Cam will make of this????)
