Just read that Worthy Patterson passed at age 91.
He was UConn basketball captain on 1954 team.
He was Mr. Smooth on the court.
I had pleasure to know him and even play in pickup games during off-season,
He was so so good and a CLASS act.
He was known to all UConn students on campus but was just a regular guy and
just another student.
He would be a star on this UConn team; a 6’3” point guard who had all the skills.
Check article in Chronicle for full info.

When he first arrived at UConn, Patterson estimated he was one of maybe 10 or 15 Black students.

“But nobody noticed color,” Patterson remembered. “If you were a student, you were a student. If you were a basketball player, you were a basketball player. You behaved like a gentleman and that was that.”

He played and captained a Special Team , we had good teams before but that was the first to captivate the state. UConn basketball became a big deal in New Haven and Bridgeport .
( The down side for BY’ers is that is that team made me a life long fan and you have to deal with it );
Beating Holy Cross at Worcester was huge .They were nationally ranked
they had Tommy Heinsohn , Togo Palazizzi ( future Celtics ) plus Ronny Perry senior
That year Stamped UConn as a regional power. . Basketball became the official sport of Ct.
Holy Cross was the NIT Champs which meant a claimant to the National Championship in those days.
It was the start that without their heroics .
No Worthy / Art Quimby / Hugh Greer

He was also a music executive who worked for many prominent record companies as noted in the Wikipediae article below:

This excerpt from the article show the notable groups he promoted for his label :

In 1972, Patterson became Eastern district sales manager for Warner/Reprise Records. In 1973, he joined Warner Brothers’ subsidiary Casablanca Records, where he was charge of promotions for the new label. Casablanca's acts included Kiss, Donna Summer, The Village People, and Toni Tennille.[

Sounds like he had an interesting and enjoyable career. Another UConn alumnus who distinguished himself in his career.
