Worst list of all time (Top Programs since 1997)

the doxing was well earned in this case. he doesnt know UConn has 6 titles, cmon

EDIT- but this dude was also just reciting rankings from KENPOM so take it up with him. what a stupid methodology taking "conference affiliation" and "recruiting success" into account. how is that relevant?

Just horrible methods of measuring success. UConn with 6 National Chamionships is ranked far lower than a Gonzaga program with none. That's simply preposterous.
not to mention 7 final 4's and a 12-1 record in said final 4's

Wierd thread created & then post- stranger article- must be super uncomfortable to put teams with 0-1 titles won compared to 6 titles won ahead on the list- maybe he’s the guy who got picked on in college- lol….

Not worth getting worked up over some random subjective list of one dude who clearly is working off opinion and not fact. All cred lost if we are not top 3.
I don't even think it's opinion based. I think the guy just looked at the average KenPom ranking of every team since 97 and decided to rank them according to that. There is actually zero weight given to national championships in that ranking.

Here's a hint:
When you see an article or analysis that lists from '97 to present, just know that 80-100% of the content will be ripped straight from KenPom, because that's when his data begins and there's no other reason to use that date.

KenPom's program rankings are not updated through this year yet. Someone tweeted them out a couple weeks back with "through '24" as if they were updated and there was a viral outrage. This doofus is probably a couple weeks behind and just seeing that viral tweet and stealing the idea. But also didn't see they weren't updated yet so stated "28 years".

This clown also just posted the data straight from the site, which is behind a paywall and so this is super unethical journalism as well.

This article values consistency, which is fine. So be it.

I value deep runs. The deeper the better.

I believe prior to developing a ranking methodology he should first learn how to count.

We've won Six national championships in the past 25 years, not five (as he claimed) and we've won three more than anyone else over the period he's analyzing not two (as he also claimed).

You should have just put our ranking in your post with a dont click indicator. It’s not worth gettin him clicks

There is no way since they time any team is even remotely close. We have 2x the number of NC as anyone on the list

It’s the offseason though

Maybe it’s just a guy trying to get clicks by peeing on the current best program in the country. If you haven’t looked yet, don’t.

“KenPom rated the top 20 programs of the last 28 years using time-weighted success, conference affiliation and recruiting history.”

So FYI, for this list, its better to be consistently really good with great recruits than it is to win championships but be inconsistent

It's better to recruit a lot of overrated 5*s, be in a power conference, and be consistently competitive.

That's the profile of Duke and Kentucky.

And be in a P4 conference, which is the only place to be really good it seems.

It’s really funny when you factor in Villanova’s titles too. The Big East won the natty nearly 1/3 of the time. Of you count 2003 Cuse, then the Big East really did win 1/3 of them.

This is the dude that wrote that absurd trash. Grant Hughes.Give em hell

It definitely isn't. It's hilarious that basically everyone complaining didn't even take 30 seconds to read what it is.

I'm laughing at the "inconsistent narrative." Winning a national championship over 20% of the time seems like pretty consistent success to me, particularly since no one else even approaches it.

I read it. It is absurd trash. They ranked Connecticut number 10 using outdated Ken pump metrics that don't include last year's info and weights "getting top recruits" over "winning national championships."
