I suppose all these unorthodox start words might help increase your solving flexibility, over time. Starting with a handicap and then working around it, etc.

Maybe. It's just a wasted slot. DROVE is always better than RODEO. I'm simply using my start word approach on line 2. Today that worked well because the E and misplaced A told me A had to be at the start and another vowel had to be in slot 3. But DROVE might have gotten me a 2.

It could've been something like 'halve' or 'salve'.

That said, it was a crappy starting word.

I just used a word clearing the exact same letters + one more. This is what’s coming next. Some are truly awful like TRACT.

Yep. every single one has been used.

Realized after the fact that I did "route" and "merge" in succession. That's slightly cute, in a thematic sense.

I checked it. You had just the one word.

I could've had another 2, but my first thought after getting the p & r was "repel". Then my second thought was, "Those bastards wouldn't dare use two consecutive words with two e's as the only vowels!"

Turns out they are bastards indeed...
