yellow is good
gray is bad

Can someone give me the ELI5 on Wordle?

Guessing a 5 letter word. Green is a letter in the right position (and it may be in the word in a different position as well). Yellow is in the word in a different position. Grey is not in the word at all. 6 guesses to get it right. 1 or 2 guesses is just luck. 3-4 is a good result. 5-6 is ok. Missing is bad.

So if you look at mine today. S and N are common letters. It's good to clear multiple vowels, so A & I. S is green, L yellow. So I move the L and try a word with two new vowels. the O hits, L is still yellow. L can now only be the 4th letter. SCOLD is the last word that fits.

I was gonna make a spiel about being slightly ashamed at my lucky 3-guess, but I no longer feel the need. uconn1999 took all the oomph out of it.

So my initial first word was "SHINE", but I then thought there was an S word yesterday, so I changed it.
