Must've been a sale on "o"s this week.

Today was a good example of why I'm not especially good at this game. It took until it was too late for me to get over my fixating on single-O combinations and try something with a double-O:

That's tough. Those are all pretty solid guesses (common-ish words that are the right part of speech, tense, etc.) using pretty common letters.

I guess I would say that "ABOVE" is not a great starting word (despite 3 vowels) because you essentially lose a guess by using B and V, instead of something like "ATONE" that gets you the same vowels but also uses N and T, which you ended up guessing in guess 2. With a better starting guess, by guess 5/6 you've really whittled down the useful consonants. You would've gotten it with 1 more guess (I also did Moose->Goose and there were no other options with the L and N gone), so those wasted consonants became crucial.

You sound like you invest in annuities ;)

Sure, there are only five 5-letter words in the English language with both b and v. But now I'm rooting for day @iri10 nails 'bevel' in two while you bust :D

It's supposed to be fun. We're not getting paid for this.

You're quite right about the limitations of my starting word. I've been thinking from time to time about changing it, but I've been stubbornly keeping at it because of...I don't know, comfortable habit. It's like always starting to get dressed with the same opening article of clothing. ;)

Haha yeah. I've always used the same word as well, and I'm loathe to change it, despite it not being optimal. Just nice to compare day to day with the same starting word. I use "RENTS", which uses all good letters, but the S is in a bad spot since Wordle doesn't really use S plurals (and very rarely plurals in general) or conjugated verbs. "STERN" would be a lot better with the same letters.

Tried HODOR. GOT vibes. Took me forever to think of a word ending in OR.

Your state of dolor is probably the cause of your current sopor, as today's effort is barely worth the honor of a fresh spoor. :p

And yet you beat me anyway!
The first two aren't in my vocabulary, and I haven't missed them. It's the reason you didn't have a 4! The last didn't fit, because I had O in the 2 spot.
