Another set of preseason awards came in Tuesday for four UConn women’s basketball players, as Christyn Williams, Olivia Nelson-Ododa, Evina Westbrook and Paige Bueckers were named to the Wooden Award preseason top 30.

Paige the only freshman to make the list. I don't know how a freshman makes this list. Maybe Geno's "she's a really, really" good college player caught someone's eye.

The "experts" are only aware of 6 conferences in the country. That shows you how much "analysis" goes into these things. Some of them probably have no idea what a mid-major is.

Congrats to all on the list and especially to the 4 UCONN players. Let's be honest - it's the pre-season watch list. Once 10 or 15 games are played, the list will change. Some will get added, some removed.

Naismith Watch List had 5 (Perry OVC, Townsend WCC, Petree MVC, Utti MWC and Mulkey C-USA) and Wade had 1 (Kelly MAC).

There were 26 players who were unanimous on all 4 Watch Lists.
Note 1: WCBA (aka BHoF) only counted those that also appear only at least one the other lists. There were 99 in total.
Note 2: Lexie Hull named to other 3 lists but not WCBA

Absolutely no attack, not many players that would make this type of list go to mid-major schools. Bella Alarie @ Princeton made last years early list but that was it for mid-majors. If you have some that you think should be on it do promote them. It would be a good follow for many here. This forum is always hungry for anything on the women's game.
That Paige got a nod is amazing and many UConn fans can't wait to see if all the hype is reality. A lot of suffering here with the start of the season being delayed.
Every thread while a treat in it's own way a tease... We need some games to be played.

I was kind of wondering the same thing. Any Wooden Award historians out there know of another freshman who made the list right out of the gate?

I checked last year’s Watch List and while there were no freshmen out of the gate, Boston was added to the list at midseason.
