The one saving grace is that it is a young team that also has a few first year transfers
That's the realism surrounding this team - they lost a lot from last year
Usually young teams - in girls soccer has decent midfield play but not much finishing unless they have a world beater up front. The team tends to stack back towards their own goal.
I agree that I also think that they will improve.
Thanks again for your reports

This weekend will probably go a long way in determining whether or not the UConn women’s soccer team makes the six team AAC conference tournament at the beginning of November. UConn women’s soccer team is currently in 5th place in the AAC standings with 6 points and a 2-2 record. UConn has lost to Cincinnati and Memphis, who are currently in 3rd and 4th in the conference with 10 points each, and the Huskies have beaten Tulsa and East Carolina, who combined have one win in the AAC so far. This weekend UConn plays at home against Houston and SMU, two more of the lesser lights in the conference with one win in the AAC between them. UConn needs to win these games to have a good chance at making the tournament. That is because the following weekend UConn will be on the road against Central Florida and South Florida, two teams that are running away in the AAC standings with 16 and 15 points respectively. I suspect the Huskies will be hard pressed to pick up any points in the standings against the Florida schools, so UConn need to take care of business at home this weekend.

After beating SMU and Houston this past weekend, UConn women's soccer is solidly in 5th place in the league. It appears that the Huskies need one point over their last three games in order to clinch a spot in the AAC tourney, and that is only if SMU wins their last three conference games. Getting any points out of the Florida trip this weekend will be very difficult as Central Florida and South Florida are the two best teams in the conference, so it is possible that they might need to get a point in their last home game against Temple the following weekend.

Central Florida is on a big roll, ranked 7th in the country, and they have been demolishing the opposition of late. In 7 AAC games so far, they are outscoring the opposition 25-1. Toss in a 4-0 win over LSU in the middle of those AAC games, they have scored 29 goals in their last 8 games.

After a slow start, UConn lost to South Florida 2-1 in what sounded like a very competitive game in the second half. In what was simply a matter of time, due to other results in the conference the Huskies have clinched a spot in the AAC tourney. While I doubt this Husky team could beat Central Florida, UConn did give South Florida a good game today. If they manage to avoid Central Florida in a semi final match up, it is possible that UConn could make the finals of the AAC tournament. So far they have given every one in the league with the exception of Central Florida a good game.

Last night the women's soccer team beat Temple to close out the regular season. UConn finished 5th in the AAC. Next game for UConn is against 4th seed Memphis next Wednesday in the AAC tournament to be held at Central Florida's field in Orlando. During the regular season UConn lost at Memphis by a score of 3-2.
